Damn. It's a lot of fun but it takes way too long for me to download this stuff. I hated it at the time but it's fun now.

Thanks though.

Dave,

No way you're old enough to remember them    [smiley=huh.gif]

That takes me back to the days of Jimmy Clanton, Buddy Holly, Roy Orbison and Duane Eddy.

Well, maybe Dion and the Belmonts were after the above...but nevertheless, they were hot in my day.

Jean

I may not have been very old  :-X when Dion and the Belmonts were in their heyday (in fact, I wasn't very old at all), but I do remember their music and also Dion's music when he went solo.

My parents used to tell me about Dion and the Belmonts. I heard they were pretty good. Don't know for a fact. ;)

LMAO Jimi!!   [smiley=laugh.gif]  Uh, sure....

Dion and the boys are from my old 'hood in da Bronx. Belmont is the name of the street where they would stand out on the stoops and sing acapella. (Sometimes they'd sing in the hallways for the acoustic effects) I'm guessing a lot of lil old Italian ladies threw them out of the halls for singing DooWop. Those were the Perry Como days. LOL  Dion is around my sister's age, though they went to different schools. My mother kept us safe in the Catholic school.
Another celeb from the hood...Chazz Palmetieri. He wrote and directed a movie called A Bronx Tale...about my old neighborhood. If you ever wonder why I'm so "anti-racist"... rent it.  Those were tough times.  :(

Actually Jean I think I am old enough if you consider 'how' the music penetrated the old noggin. As a boy of 6 or 7 my folks picked up a Seeburg Jukebox (that they still have) which held 50 45's---all of which came from mom's musical collection. So my first real introduction to music was nothing *but* the oldies and it's frightening to think just how many of them I can sing at will.

If you like I'll get a few more choice songs up. In the meantime, WITHOUT googling ya big cheats, what are these lyrics from in the oldies group?

I could say I need you, but then you'd realize that I want you, just like a thousand
other guys who say they love you, and all the rest of their lies--when all they
wanted was to touch your face your hands, and gaze in to your eyes....

Great music... I grew up on this kind of stuff, the American Graffiti Soundtrack, the Beach Boys, Righteous Brothers, Elvis, the Beatles, Santana, Carly Simon, Neil Young, and Janis Joplin. :)

These are Not Dowop. Not even close: (And it is spelled Doowop or Doo Wop)
Jimmy Clanton, Buddy Holly, Roy Orbison and Duane Eddy.

You want real Doo Wop. Cool Bobby B and the Do Wop Stop is on radio, usually late at night on Fridays and Saturdays.

I wasn't listing those groups as doo-wop. LMAO!! I'm just saying, I enjoy older music, and grew up on doo-wop as one other kind of music in a list of other music that I also grew up on.

My mistake. Your list is true and real Rock and Roll. Doo Wop is different as is jazz, blues and country-western.

Yep. I also also enjoy swing, big band, and blues, too. :) My three favorite kinds of music! :)
