Title: Sweet turn of conversation.... Post by Redd715 on Jul 24th, 2005, 6:03pm Megan, my 13 y/o is in charge of keeping the ice bin full at our place. We just finished making 2 gallons of Koolaid and the bin was empty. As she was cracking the trays to fill the bin a cube made a small scratch in one of her fingers. She was whineing about how bad it hurt, and so I asked her to see it. There wasn't even the faintest hint of anything but a little white line. In the most compassionate tone, I told her...Meg...in the grand picture of things, what would she want that finger or my head. She said her finger. Dylan on the other hand piped up and said if it were him he's want my head. I looked at him with wide eyes and asked why in the world whould he want that? He said so I didn't have to suffer anymore. What a strong and compassionate young man he is. So mature in so many ways beyond his years. There was a huge family hug and the tears nearly overtook all of us. Now if only I could get him that passionate about his schoolwork.... :-/ It's dawned on me with the recent events and interaction that the dynamics of any family is the effort we put into it from day one! My children have always been my main focus. I've allowed them the space to grow while at the same time set the boundrys of what is and isn't acceptable behavior. I've never belittled them as people, though I have voiced my dissapointment in their behavior many many a time. I can't stress enough how proud I am of their philanthropic activities, and deep and passionate careing for so many causes. I needed to share once again, how truely blessed I am to have two such terrific kids. |

Title: Re: Sweet turn of conversation.... Post by BMoneeTheMoneeMan on Jul 24th, 2005, 6:35pm I hear you Redd, my daughter is the same way. She really hurts when other people are suffering and she wants to do anything to help. She is 5 and its so innocent and so heartfelt at the same time. My daughter, Dianan, said she would like to have the headaches for me, but when i told her the nickname is the "cluster monster" or the "beast", she got kinda scared. She doesnt like monsters. So as long as there arent any monsters, she's right there to help!!! So cute BMonee |
