Title: Nursing Boards Tomorrow! Post by Lizzie2 on Jul 24th, 2005, 5:10pm So...I've reached the day I've been dreading! My NCLEX exam for my RN is at 10am tomorrow morning! I'm not excited about this.....except to have it finished! I've been running practice tests, and I keep landing in the 60s...I need to get in the 70s to pass! However, on the same types of tests, I always did fine in nursing school...it's just making me nervous! The area I'm showing the greatest weakness in? Maternity! WTF? Seriously! haha Well...fingers crossed for me please!!! Carrie :) |

My roommate Diane has also passed hers...she's trying to tell me it's going to be okay on IM right now as I'm on a break between studying! I've only known one girl who failed, and she was really an idiot...so I'm hoping that I'll do fine! I just hate preparing for these things and getting stressed over it! Love you too! Carrie :) |

In highschool I tremember the practice for the chemestry regents, I always failed them, but on the real test I got a 92. Don't worry, but keep enogh stress to keep the beast away. Opus/Paul |

However, we can find out after about 3 days from the PA state board of nursing website. It's a bit scary because you look up your name, and it tells you what kind of license you have. For instance, right now mine says "Graduate Nurse Permit." You can look up anyone with a professional license to practice in that state. My friends Courtney and Amy took the boards the same day at 2 different locations. Court found out right away, but Amy's didn't pop up even 24 hours later. Amy was FREAKING out....then finally after calling the state board of nursing number lots of times, she found out that she did pass and had her RN! So...I'm going to be glued to the PA state nursing website for a few days after it's over! haha Just going to run through 2 more practice exams before calling it quits for tonight! |

You come out thinking you got everything wrong. But, in the end, it's all OK! I seem to remember that "back in the day" the questions on the Metabolic System were the hardest. Circulatory, cardiac, orthopedic - piece of cake. You'll do great, my friend. The hardest part is waiting those 6 weeks for the results. Fingers and toes all crossed for you. Kris |

LMAO ;) I have a couple of pages of standard lab values and other 'norms' that I will look over in the morning, but I'm finished preparing! Kris - now we get to find out a bit sooner! I should know by about Thursday or Friday. But still going to be a long few days! My friend who'll be going into his 3rd year as a med student at Jefferson said it was at least 6 weeks till he would get the results of his boards! So far...from fellow classmates who've taken it, I've been told to remember delegation and hierarchy, assessment, and other practical analysis of nursing concept type things. They said to ditch the NCLEX 3500 prep because it focuses on content. I used the HESI test materials because they focus more on concept. My friend Amy said that they asked a ton of pharm questions and she didn't even recognize the drugs! :o She did fine, though. :) Oh...and Diane reminded me earlier this evening.... Decorticate posturing...think 'to the core' to remember the arms turn and flex in and the feet/legs turn inwards...linked to cerebral cortex damage. Decerebrate are the opposite movements and relate to midbrain damage. OK...there I wrote it out. Now I won't forget it and there probably won't be any questions on it! hehe G'nite and PF all! You can have anywhere from 75-265 questions. The test stops when it knows with 95% confidence whether you pass or fail. People pass and fail at 75 and at 265. Well...I had 97 questions! I don't know........................................... When I walked out of the test, the woman at the reception desk said, "75?" I said no 97. Then she said, "Well...I guess it's good to put in as much information as possible." And then muttered something. I said, "What? I didn't hear you." She said, "Well at least it's over!" That doesn't leave me feeling very confident!!!!!! But yeah...at least it's over.... :-/ |
