Title: A visit with Mr. and Mrs. Notfer Post by Donna_D. on Jul 24th, 2005, 5:14am On my way back from San Antonio I had the privledge of stopping in Roundrock for an evening of grilling and chilling with Steve (Not4hire) and his beautiful wife Martha. Let me tell you what folks...he's got porch! We sat outside while he grilled a scrumptious brisket and downed at least a half dozen tasty Margaritas! This man can COOK!! We moved the conversation indoors where they laid out a bountiful spread of brisket, corn on the cob, baked potatoes, steamed broccoli and all the fixings. We talked and ate until we were stuffed!! Then like all clusterheads we talked and talked and talked til we were were, as we say in Texas, "plumb wore out". They graciously invited me to stay the night and after all those margaritas and a long day on the road I eagerly accepted! I acutally slept in 'til 9am the next day and got up and we talked and talked some more! All in all a wonderful visit with a couple of wonderful people. Thanks Steve and Martha, you really know how to make a gal feel welcome and at home. Dinner was superb and the conversation even more so!! See you on the next trip through!! DD |

Title: Re: A visit with Mr. and Mrs. Notfer Post by Not4Hire on Jul 24th, 2005, 12:20pm Donna... you know that it was OUR privilege to have you over and be able to spend some time talking about this thief that steals so much from our lives. I was sorry that we didn't have more time in Dallas to talk to ALL the great folks who gave their energy, opened their hearts (and wallets) to further the OUCH cause. Martha and I would like to formally invite ALL clusterheads over for *porch* and margaritas, brisket and peaches, fellowship and the Texas-style welcome we enjoyed in Dallas. Thanks to YOU, DonnaD, for the incredible experience and to the rest of the folks who made the convention such a successful, inspiring, and progressive occasion. There are great things ahead and I hope everybody grabs an oar. Seriously, folks, if yer ever passin' thru Austin: drop us a line so we can get together...we'll keep the light ON. Best to all....Steve and Martha |

Well, I know you said clusterheads, but I'm your resident Goof on here, just ask Jackie & Blake.... so if I'm passing through big brother, don't be suprised if I knock on your door... I'm liable to take Marta shopping and be back in a couple (that's FOUR ;;D ) hours. After all this time, it was really great meeting you and Martica, I'm only sorry we got to spend such little time together. Five days is such little time for something like this. However, looks like I'm going to be doing a little traveling, and Texas is a target (I told ya Jean LOL). I'm glad DD passed through, the woman is the freaking ENERGIZER bunny... don't know how the hell she does it. My love again to you and Marta, Y MARTA, no vayas de compra tanto, se preocupa Esteban porque te quiere muchisimo! ;;D Love, Pep |

Title: Re: A visit with Mr. and Mrs. Notfer Post by burnt-toast on Jul 24th, 2005, 8:04pm Now before anyone gets cornfused.... Brisket ain't no steak. Brisket is that large muscle between a bovines front legs that runs back to the beginning of the lower rib cage. Brisket isn't popular because it needs more prep. and good cooking technique to prepare it properly. Brisket has 10X the flavor of any steak because the muscle tissues are wrapped in fiberous sheathes which when cooked properly breakdown and add tremendous flavor. However if cooked improperly it can surely make for some interesting chewing. I posted this because I believe it's truely a better flavored cut of beef than a true steak. I also wanted to add that someone obviously knows what they're doing to prepare it so well from the grill. My hat is off. Tom |

Not so fast Jonny, this cut is versitile enough for even the most well-done'rs. As a roast - moist cooked for 2hr to all day if ya' have the time, and you'll have the best tasting/tenderest piece of well-done beef you can imaging. Give Me Brisket!, Or or Give Me um, a, pork - ya' that's it Pork! [smiley=laugh.gif] Tom |
