"As a background, our band Liquid Playground is reuniting and performing for our 10 year college reunion at Princeton in May, but the problem is we haven't seen or played with each other for 7 years. time heals most wounds and we are all happy to get back together for a reunion gig. Here is how we set it up: Three of us were in my garage in Redwood City, CA (drums, vocals, keyboards), the bass player was in Colorado, and the guitar player was in Boston. Each remote player had an amp in their room near their computer and a mic. I had a wireless laptop and mic in the garage and ran my audio out into an amp in the garage. I set up the Skype conference and when the remote users would talk or play, they'd be coming through the amp just as if they were in the garage.There was an issue of slight delay in that we couldn't all sync up real-time while we were playing. However, we quickly learned to ignore some sounds as we were playing if they were behind the beat. But 50% of this rehearsal was trying to remember what the heck we played and how we played it, and Skype was perfect for this: Pete in MA would ask how a chord progression went. It's amazing we pulled it off, but Skype is a huge reason why we won't suck as much when we finally get on stage again!

Somebody tell these idiots that they sucked back then and they still suck......LMMFAO!!!

If there really is a "Pete in MA" im gonna find him and put my boot in his ass.....LMMFAO ;;D

Svenn and I have used it several times.  Because of my slow assed dialup, I had to close any other program using the internet, but once I did, it was like he was in the next room.  Too cool!

For those that don't know, SKYPE is a free (and NO adware attached) download program that you can talk to peoploe from all over the world.  When Svenn and I talk, it sounds like he is right next to me.

You can also use it as you would MSN Messenger or Yahoo Messenger or the AOL thingy.  You can send files and all sorts of stuff.  It is an awesome program.  I like the talking part best.  No long distance charges, no minutes to worry about, just sign on and ring up your bud (your bud must also have SKYPE, and be logged on), and start talking.

Great program, and IT'S FREE!!

I've used it for years. You can tranfer up to a 5 Gb file and the VOIP is really good quality, and its all ecrypted. [smiley=smokin.gif]

Yep, it's encrypted and free. The VOIP works great, it sounds better than talking on the phone. And it's secure, no one can get to yer conversation, whether it's a message or live conversation.

I'm getting logitech headset with usb connector on monday. too bad none of the computer stores are open here in Jyväskylä on saturdays... :(

but luckily if they don't have it in here, mum is coming to visit me at the end of next week so she can get me the headset from Helsinki.

Thanx Svenn, great site!  Got to get the correct headgear but lots of fun.  Used it last night with normal earphones and doubled up laughing as the voices on the other side sounded like I entered the realm of Rodger Rabbit! [smiley=laugh.gif]

I don't think you have to spend a lot of money on the headsets.  I bought mine from WallyWorld.  Cheap ones.  They work just fine.  Just make sure the set you get has TWO plugs on the end.  One plugs into the speaker jack, and the other one plugs into the mic jack.

But, if you want a good set, give me your credit card number, plus the expiration date, and I will send you a nice set for only $6,784.96 plus 134% shipping and handling charges.

Please allow 14 to 18 years for shipping.

Where I live is really quite remote and I worry about getting bugs in my computer.  I'm the complete nerd-gin and wouldn't know even where to start if I had to delouse the thing.  (Only place I go outside of work is here.)

Presuming I get a you-beaut headset and mike and plug into Skype, what's the chance of it bringing me bad luck?

Well - in between work and my doctor's appt at 5, I've had a little time to kill in the city (which is currently like...105 degrees!)

So I went to radio shack in the ghetto gallery.  I got me some headphones with a mic!  (yeah, I know...radio shack...but hey...it does the job!)

I'll be home sometime between 7 and 8 tonight probably and hopefully I'll get to try them out at some point!  Yay!!

Yes you can.  I have talked to that damn viking several times that way.  The only time you might have trouble, is when the person you are talking to is doing the same thing.  I had that problem when talking to, ummm ... DAMN I am so old and senile, I forgot who it was!!! Pegg, or Chris, or some foxy cluster pretender (we all know WDGCH).
