Title: Emotional jet-lag Post by Linda_Howell on Jul 19th, 2005, 5:19pm So forgive me if I have run-on sentences or I jump from one thing to another. To everyone who wasn't there, DonnaD did such a wonderful job of hosting this convention I am still in awe of how she could keep her sanity and do 1000 things at once. DD, I am so proud of you. After Cluster Chuck showed me the awful pic he took pof me from a balcony w/ telescopic lens my mind was working overtime figuring how I could get even. After witnessing him get hit over and over and over again...I just couldn't do it. That man suffers enough! Because of Chuck's hits several of us were able to educate a lot of the public about CH. I believe the security officer who came around the corner late one night and saw him and all of us standing around probably still has his mouth open in shock. He asked why the rest of us weren't doing something and could NOT understand this kind of pain. I talked to him for a few mins. and then Charlie stood next to him for about 45 mins and did an excellent job of describing everything to him. There were several people I never met at previous conventions. Helen(LeLimey) is just the cutest sweetest and FUNNIEST person and I would give anything to put her and Jayne in a room together and then just stand back!!!!!!!!! Eric (e-double and Dave (notseinfeld) were really a surprise to me. Immediate "like" Nani was a surprise to me also. I half expected her to show up and give a long disertation on Kudzu. jk Instead I found myself doubled over in laughter at this lady. She's smart too. Racer and I were the last ones to leave Dallas(we turned the lights off) and I was very good all day long hugging and saying good-byes to everyone. Right up until Bill and I said good-bye at the airport. then I lost it. :'( I've never known ANY group of people who share a common thread like we all do who...have this kind of instant bond and can sincerely call each other "family". In MHO there were only 2 things wrong with this convention: 1. Heat and humidity 98 degrees with 100% humidity. 2. The fact that Elaine, Cat, Melissa, Randy, Mastiff, Edna, Svenn, Woobie, and all the rest of my friends couldn't be there. I've got so much more to say but my last brain cell is beeping to let me know I need to re-charge. Linda |

Title: Re: Emotional jet-lag Post by Gator on Jul 20th, 2005, 9:05am It was great finally meeting you, Linda. I can't wait until the next time. You are right about people getting an education. After Chuck's first hit in the bar, a gentleman came to the table and spent about 30 minutes asking questions and listening to information. We also gave him links to the ouch website and ch.com. Turns out his son is in medical school and he wanted him to know about CH. A connection was definitely made there. He even bought a round of drinks for the table after he left. Small steps. |
