Title: Re: Need a drink Post by Barry_T_Coles on Jul 13th, 2005, 12:43am :oDont stay bored for to long, just tell us where we can get a bottle of this magic stuff from. Just look at it, you can pour a full glass, put the cap back on and the bottle fills up again; I should only ever need one bottle if it keeps doing that. [smiley=laugh.gif] |

Title: Re: Need a drink Post by AussieBrian on Jul 13th, 2005, 5:51am For all who can't have a beer just now, I'm having one for you and drinking a toast to the time we can share a round together. I trust many others are joining me in raising a glass - happy in the knowledge that you'll do the same for us next time we're locked in mortal combat with you-know-who. To your bloody fine health, mates. Stay strong. |

Title: Re: Need a drink Post by Redd715 on Jul 13th, 2005, 8:18am In general, many chronics can drink and not have it effect the head. Partly because it really doesn't matter, we'll get hit no matter what we do or don't do. For me personally, the higher the hops content of the brew, (mind you I prefer micro brews to the mass produced national brands) the more likely I will be to get hit. However, I like red wine, and Jim Beam regular and Black label, and neither one will tempt the beast. |

Unfortunately beer is my only drink - I won't even get to finish one lousy bottle before I'm sent running. Early on I was known for racing out of many a social gathering looking very unsociable. They happen so fast - come on so intense - and don't stop for hours. I always thought all CH sufferers experienced the same. Like everything associated with this nightmare - it seems to manifest itself differently in everyone. Like AussieBrian - tip one for those that can't. [smiley=me&mb.gif] Tom |

I recall very vividly one such public attack and there was nowhere to hide. My brother had come for a visit for the day and we went for an all day cycle tour to some of the old stomping grounds from our childhoods. We went all over and over the course of the day we had had maybe 3 beers all day. Last stop of the day was at the tavern 1 1/2 blocks up the road from my apartment complex. The place had recently reopend after a fire and major remodeling and was packed to the walls. We did happen to find two seats over by the back corner and sat down at the bar and ordered two beers. We had barely been served and the all too familiar burning and pressure began to build. I tried to get up from my stool to head to the parking lot, but there was no where to go. The place was too packed and loud to go anywhere. I had my trex kit in the pocket of my jacket so I reached in...right there in front of the entire croud I lifted up my t-shirt and popped the syring into my belly. For the next 5 minutes my brother was my body gaurd as I shook and teard and kicked and beat my fist against my head and tried to grind my skull into bar. I am more convinced that it was the smell of the lacquer used to seal all the wood in that place than it was the beer. My brother got a real good innitiation that day about my condition. Somehow he still loves me... ;) |

Title: Re: Need a drink Post by Charlie on Jul 13th, 2005, 4:41pm Yikes. I'm having sympathic pain. My picturing your sticking a needle in your abdomen isn't helpful either. http://www.netsync.net/users/charlies/gifs/OUCH.png About the only thing I can imbibe that seems not to affect my maladies is beer. Alcohol never induced an attack. I have no idea why. It may even have a beneficial effect on my seizures. Don't tell my twerp neurologist. This is an illustration of an 1890s Chicago hops processing plant taken from a billhead or invoice. I kid you not: Always here to help.... http://www.netsync.net/users/charlies/gifs/crazyeyes.gif Charlie |
