Title: Cymbalta information highway
Post by cootie on Jul 12th, 2005, 11:39pm
Anyone got any input on this medication.....for chronic pain theropy along with other stuff. I'm not one for jus poppin pills even my doc sudgests anymore without some input and information. (trial and error can suck) Have read about it a bit.....says it had good results in survery's over placebo receiveing patients. A big DUH for that one. Anyhow.....doc said he's had good responses.....maybe so......but I am the side effects queen and I don't like meds that cause excess weight gain and nausia. Nausia is the one side effect I think this med carries the most for a little while at least till used to it....swell....I don't really have a few weeks to dedicate to nausia myself rite now. Mite be a good med.....dunno.....jus askin for advice. Read it is also notorious for suicideal tendencies. Oh yeah......in with the new 'outst' with the old Pam

.......also got some samples of lunista......?

Cymbalta write-up....

http://www.rxlist.com/cgi/generic/cymbalta_wcp.htm

"Patients with major depressive disorder, both adult and pediatric, may experience worsening of their depression and/or the emergence of suicidal ideation and behavior (suicidality), whether or not they are taking antidepressant medications, and this risk may persist until significant remission occurs."

Is your doctor nuts or does he have one too many patients?  [smiley=huh.gif] Sorry, but that med does not sound like something anyone with CH aka "suicide headaches" should be taking.

I can find no information on Lunista. Rule of thumb: If a google search does not show anything, I am not going to take it.   ;) Are you sure that is the right name?

Is this it, Lunesta? It is for sleeping disorders.

Thanks topical.......um sorry I fergot to mention (which most already know here) I am a 'supporter'.....sorry if I misled ya on that part. Brad's the ch'r shit-head in our family. Cymbalta 'was' mentiond on here about a year ago and with this slow dialup I can't get into into the past on here without gettin booted offline. Anyhow......doctors are prescribing it for chronic pain sufferers tho and say they are haveing good results.......DOUBT it would do a dam thing for ch but probly aid in other pain areas is what the intentions would be.....like with me chronic back crap and damaged joints from liveing a life similar to Evil Kenevil......har-har. But.......some of the side effects I have read about scare me......so was wondering if anyone else had any luck with it since not everyone expiriences side effects at all or if they do it's just the first few days or week. I think all meds carry SOME form of side effects. Jus wonderin if anyone else had good luck with it.....or did it make them sick or gain weight. Scarey to think how it can cause suicidal thoughts......I am a stress mess and would not want that sort of shit creepin in. I went that route with Paxil........THAT could of got serious and to me it was REAL. I was convinced I was of no value. Glad I pulled outa that one......so......as you can tell I am cautious and jus seekin family advice.....a shoulder to lean on......something to go by. I'm NOT likin what I have read about it so far......the mind is too valuable to alternate good verses evil by a pill Pam

Yes......lunesta is for chronic insomnia......I got a few hours sleep last nite and woke up tired. So.....will try a few more nites of it and go back to ambien if it doesn't do better.

Hi Cootie, you get a big hug long distance for being a supporter.  <*BIG HUG*>

I tried Paxil before it seemed to work for me. I was sorta desperate as nothing was working. One side effect to run away from in drugs is 'night sweats'. I forget what drug had that...but jeez, it was terrible! It was like waking up and someone had poured a bucket of water on you and bed. Awful...

Take care and I hope someone can answer your question.
