Title: Re: I have a little list... Post by burnt-toast on Jul 11th, 2005, 9:31pm Extra Strength Excedrin - 1 - 2 dozen a day - Don't know how I survived that stupidity. Prescription Pain Killers - like candy - Don't know how I survived that stupidity either. Cinnamon - The real bark kind - soaked the bark in boiling water and left it brew for days into a strong sweet liquid - would pour some into a mug, heat it and drink it when attacks occurred. At one point I swore it worked but my dilusions didn't last long - haven't used it in years. Currently snortin' Anbesol (actually applying with q-tip) - again I'm at the I swear it works stage - Haven't hit the "it was just another dilusion stage" yet. Modified to include Lithium Verapamil Cafertot Variety of Steroids Melatonin Imitrex O2 Zomig Didn't know you wanted the more legitimate stuff. Tom |

Title: Re: I have a little list... Post by E-Double on Jul 11th, 2005, 9:45pm Some tricks that I used to use and sometimes still do are: *Wrapping a bandana tightly around my skull (be careful) *Filling a sink with scaulding water creating a steam bath and placing my head over it with a towel covering it. *Going from Steam to Frigid shower. *Standing infront of A/C *Icepacks or frozen veggies on the back of the neck or eye *Tons of STRONG coffee. |

Title: Re: I have a little list... Post by Charlie on Jul 12th, 2005, 1:48am Cafergot and Inderal. Some success with the latter. Cafergot was useless. Sitting in the dark with an open window...in winter even. Felt good, didn't work. Absolute silence. Felt good too. The technique I post here did the trick more than 75% of the time. At least it shortened them and now and then killed them very fast. What a deal that was..... Charlie |

Title: Re: I have a little list... Post by seasonalboomer on Jul 12th, 2005, 9:50am Just a few of my prouder moments: -Placing face into snow drifts while stumbling drunk -Trying to puke because it makes my eyes -Jumping into very cold pool in winter -Face in air conditioning vent -Looking up into bright lights -Scalding hot water in sink with towel over it (duplicate from e-double) -Snorting Dr. Bronner's Peppermint Soap -Steam room at health club (made worse - very embarassing) -Drinking MORE alcohol -Holding my breath Many would find these lists to be sad and pitiful. Only clusterheads can see the little glints of humor that many of these crazy experiences bring when looking back upon them. (At least I do, anyway.) This forum has allowed me to actually tell some of the crazier ones not only here but to people that know me and laugh. |

Title: Re: I have a little list... Post by Margi on Jul 12th, 2005, 9:54am Mike's tried so much, too. In the early days before we knew what we were dealing with: Aspirin by the tonne Tylenol Extra Strength Advil Gel Caps Dristan Nasal Spray (decongestant that is addictive and makes things WAY worse) Antibiotic after antibiotic for "sinus infection" ::) Feverfew MRI's and CT scans Sinus draining at the hospital Teeth extraction Hot mustard powder up the nose (do NOT try this at home) Heat (only once. never again) Massage Red Wine (bad idea. very bad) Pot (exTREMELY bad idea. only once.) Toradol Sansert Demerol Imitrex pills then we found this place: welder's oxygen (a Godsend!) water water water (worked very well a couple times, now, not so much) ice (THANK YOU!!) benadryl gravol neo-citran learning to calm down (best defense so far) shrooms (stopped working for him but did change his remission pattern for awhile) 1 month after, he went to a neuro for the first time ever and was prescribed: prednisone imitrex spray verapamil magnesium lithium now his cycles are more than 6 months in duration (I'm convinced, because of these meds). |

Title: Re: I have a little list... Post by hdido on Jul 12th, 2005, 11:10pm Dilaudid and Actiq work for me; going back on Lamictal-I'm chronic, had a one year remission after being on Lamictal for 6 months, stayed on L for about 6 months after the CH returned, no results/after 3 1/2 years of being chronic again, my neuro suggested giving the Lamictal a try again....not sure if it was a factor in the remission, but since it had no adverse side effects, willing to give it a shot again. Sex also helps, but I don't get enough. |

Title: Re: I have a little list... Post by Barry_T_Coles on Jul 13th, 2005, 12:30am Its no wonder the pharmaceutical companies are doing so well with us lot around. Havn't tried the hard meds but have used off the shelf pain killers by the bucket load that proved about as usefull as a plane without wings. My favourite is my faithfull TENS machine to hit the ganglion lump. Next time I get hit with the CH I am definately going for the 02. But I reckon Aussie Brian has the best fix that he isn't letting on about, take a look at the place he has to put up with having to live. http://www.ozoutback.com.au/postcards/postcards_forms/tsi_dauan_boigu/ Kind Regards Barry |

Title: Re: I have a little list... Post by Kiwiinoz58 on Jul 17th, 2005, 8:54pm Wow guys, what haven't you tried in the way of meds?? Before being diagnosed corrrectly I tried the usual gambit of sinus meds etc. Now on Verap, Melatonin & Imigran inj only. Two others I tried were Pethedine inj & Mersyndol Forte to no avail. A hot water bottle on my temple sometimes convinces me it's helping [smiley=laugh.gif] but to be honest the frustration and pain causes me to spend a lot of time crying like a bloody big kid!! Thanks for that, mate. Bit of a reality check there. Truth is that this is but a taste of it and there's plenty of other drugs, poisons and invasive measures missing from the little list. I've also done some serious compilation on the list of other 'therapies' we've variously tried over time and the fact is, it's bloody scary. Medieaval. Witchcraft, hocus pocus and much of it outright dangerous! My concern is that some new-chum sufferer finds this place, stumbles upon what we've tried in the past, and somehow thinks they must go through all this themselves looking for their own special cure. (Snorting hot mustard powder???) I think this a fine time to bid farewell to this thread before it does more harm than good. R.I.P. |
