Title: MY new baby...
Post by Melissa on Jul 8th, 2005, 2:11pm
Here are a couple pics of my new baby Sheltie "Nikita"...

We just picked her up this morning and had her vet checked and the works.  I can't believe we shelled out the money for her, but I think she's worth it.  Already, just knowing she is around the house makes a whole world of difference.

Just wanted to share.

Life will never be the same.
My best friend, in Florida, is involved with Sheltie rescue.  They get so attached they can't give them up.  They now have three.
Nikita is adorable.
There's nothing like "puppy love".

awwwww, welcome Nikita!!  You're darned right she's worth every penny you paid, Mel!  She's gorgeous!  I've always wanted a sheltie, they always won the obedience classes hands...er....paws down in dog shows.  VERY smart critters.  How old is she?  I bet Eli and Lilly are over the moon excited!!  :)

Way to go, girl - great news!!  :D

Thanks so much everyone!  We just adore her!

Margi, she is 12 weeks old and smart as a fox. ;)

I'll take pics as she gets bigger.  I'm anxious to see her as an adult with that awesome coat she has. ;;D

Nikita's beautiful Mel.  Is she a Blue Merlin?

My step daughter breeds and shows Shelties.  They're so adorable.  Lots of grooming to be done but worth it.  Will you show her at all?

Can't wait to see photos as she grows up some more.

Congrats!
Carol

How absolutely stupid!!! ::)  Ya, a Sheltie woulda had no problem keeping them from suicide.  It's so funny to watch Nikita here at home, she's gotta know where each of us is at all times and follows us around if we go to a different room.   And she's only 12 weeks old!

sheesh

lol

yeah, no shit, Mel.  Imagine how long it would take FOUR HUNDRED AND FIFTY SHEEP to jump to their deaths.  I would think that it would be more than just the blink of an eye, wouldn't you?  But...those "shepherds" sat there, EATING THEIR BREAKFAST wondering what to do.   ::)  Um, hullo?  Like, how about herding the remaining ones in the opposite direction of the cliff, maybe.   Unbelievable.

oh she's 12 weeks old!!  Such a cuddly age.  Whatever you do, don't each of you go in different directions at once, it will break her heart trying to keep track of you!!  Oh, I miss the puppy days.  Now's a really good time to get her used to you grooming her, brushing her, doing her claws.  I used to do Barlys claws while he was sleeping and now, at age 9, he stands there like a horse, lifting one foot then the other for me.  Trusts me completely, but I worked hard for his trust when he was Nikita's age.  Enjoy her, Mel!  I'm jealous!  :)  If you ever need a puppysitter........  ;)

Nikita is lovely! :)
Congrats!

Me & folks were planning to get a dog once but it didn't work out since we couldn't decide what kind of dog would be best for us. So we had an aquarium and a guinea pig instead. :)

That is one massive dog... :o

I went to dinner by the waterfront (the Hudson River) a few weeks ago and I saw this man walking his two dogs…a Great Dane and a Chihuahua…it was the funniest thing.   [smiley=laugh.gif]

Hey everyone, thanks!! ;;D

I just got back from a little vacation up north (fishing) and I must say, I think that she remembers our house, because now she's just running around like she's at home. :)  I took lots of pics of her, the kids and hubby, so I'll put them up as soon as I get them developed.

Carol, Nikita isn't a Blue Merle, but I didn't even know anything about Blue's until I researched Sheltie's in general.  They are quite rare?  Anyway, I think I am very pleased with my purchase and she'll give us many years of love and happiness, as we'll give her in return. :D

Mast, I LOVE that big lug!!  But you know I've always loved Mastiff's anyway.  Linda just doesn't know what she's talking about. ;)................. [smiley=laugh.gif]

ghost, LMAO.
