Her hubby was on his way to London and she insisted he came home as he was heading to one of the stations hit! She is a very relieved lady! As soon as I hear from or see anyone else on OUCH UK I'll add it to posts here. We appreciate your concern so much. That sounds so.. formal.. but it isn't and you know that! [smiley=hug.gif] Thanks for caring Oh and nothing - NOTHING!! .. short of planes not flying will stop us from being in Dallas on Tuesday! |

Title: Re: Our U.K. friends, please check in! Post by sandie99 on Jul 7th, 2005, 7:57am Helen, I do hope that London will get back to its feet soon. I recall very well that the dereailment in Central Line took months to prapair. But as airports are operating normally, all you guys will have to do is get there! :) I will be praying for Londoners today. |

Title: Re: Our U.K. friends, please check in! Post by Peppermint on Jul 7th, 2005, 12:55pm LeLimey, Thanks so much for the updates, it's really a relief to hear. Really though, about Mo, Simon and the others we haven't heard from, if you hear anything, please, please the updates are appreciated. You know, the helicopters flying overhead again in my neighborhood and freeway, the military airplanes I saw this morning... watching and hearing the news from the crack of dawn... brings it all back, and makes what is happening over there in the U.K. very real for this usually un-panicky New Yorker (whom had a bonafide panick attack today while driving on the damn freeway thanks to all the overhead activity and police presence). All I can do is pray that there are no more attacks there nor lives lost. I said it already, but I'll say it again, we're praying for you over here. Pep |

Title: Re: Our U.K. friends, please check in! Post by LeLimey on Jul 7th, 2005, 1:14pm I know Mo is in Wales and MikeP is on holiday so they are both safe. Simon lives in norfolk so he should be a good long way away. My big worry all day long was Filbert, (DaveM), I knew hw was taking a school trip up to London today and I've been worried sick about him but he has turned up safe and sound. I will keep you updated with anyone else I hear from, obviously as the evening goes on and people log on there will be more to tell. |

Title: Re: Our U.K. friends, please check in! Post by Jayne on Jul 7th, 2005, 2:57pm Thanks guys ( I have a few seconds here at work) I called my good friend of 18years this morning in London. She called in sick today and it's a good job as she would have been in the middle of it. Here's hoping there is no more to come for any of us. |

Title: Re: Our U.K. friends, please check in! Post by Simon on Jul 7th, 2005, 3:17pm Thanks for the concern folks - fortunately I'm a long way from it all, as should MOB and Mo be. Terrible shock though, (been trying to explain to the younger ones at School what it's all about, and why they should watch and remember). "There but for the grace of..." very much in mind though. One of the lines hit was the very tube that I've taken many times to get to Queen Square - given the timing one worries about other CHers who may have had an appointment there. As to what we do.... Don't think anything in Iraq will help, but I feel it's about time we started thinking outside the box. Since they don't think like we do, we can't beat them by carrying on with our usual methods, but we can't sink to theirs. There has to be a third way, and finding that is what our leaders get paid the big bucks for. The irony of this is that our folks are meeting at the moment to help Africa, which has many millions of Muslims. Maybe that help should be contingent on condemnation and genuine assistance in the fight by those countries. Simon |

Title: Re: Our U.K. friends, please check in! Post by pubgirl on Jul 7th, 2005, 4:35pm Thanks for all good wishes everyone. I haven't spoken to Cathy and Wes, but they both hate London and never go there and live a long way away, so I would think it very unlikely they are caught up in all of this. Wendy |

Title: Re: Our U.K. friends, please check in! Post by Cathi04 on Jul 8th, 2005, 9:42am Cathy and Wes and the bairns are all fine. yes, they do live outside the city.....funny, isnt it, we know these things instinctively, and it's logical they will be nowhere near London, but, the mind takes off....the "what ifs" set in....... Anywhoo, gang, that's another contingency who's checked in just fine..... Cathi PS-Helen, thank you for being such a great shepherd.you have kept the flock in control, and have reported each sheep as they have returned to the fold.....good job.and thank you! |

Title: Re: Our U.K. friends, please check in! Post by Peppermint on Jul 8th, 2005, 9:59pm I'm so relieved to hear you're all well in spite of the happenings. Thank you for the updates, Wendy, MOB, Simon, Jayne, LeLimey, Wendy send my best to Cathy & Wes. I don't blame you for being angry MOB, its enough to make you want to .... [smiley=mad.gif] I'd say its been handled extremely well from what we hear on this side of the pond. Be ever vigilant, Pep |
