Mum just called and told me that she's taking me to Rome! :D
She has always wanted to go to Rome and I have wanted to go to Italy. I love the food... ;;D

Anyways, she said that because she didn't give me a graduation gift when I finished my BA, so this is it. And we're celebrating my PF time, too! :)

So Rome, beware! One clusterhead and her mum are hitting the town in August!!!!! ;;D

All of those who have been to Rome... all the tips are welcomed... :)

Spend some down time at the Spanish Steps.

DO NOT climb the stairs to the top of the dome on St. Peters without oxygen and a new set of legs.

Visit Castle St. Angelo.

Thanks for reminding me! I have heard the very same from the Italian men... Luckily I'm not a blonde! ;;D

Have some of the local yogurt the first day. Don't drink the water. Enjoy the men as they will certainly enjoy you [smiley=mellow.gif]
Get an ice pack for your neck, as it will certainly be sore from trying to look at all the scenery.

Watch your purses, lots of pickpockets in Rome in the summer. Especially groups of young boys, 12 to 15 years old. One will confuse you, the other will take your wallet. You must visit:

Piazza Spagna
Fontana di Trevi
Foro Romano
Colliseum (of course!)
Vaticano
Capella Sistina

At the base of the spanish steps there is lots of shopping and food. The ice cream parlor right on the corner makes excellent Gelato!!

Don, thanks again for the info. I try to get us to Vatican on a Wednesday. I know mum wants to go to all possible day trips, so I don't know if it's possible.

Cazman, I always thought I had a sibling hiding somewhere! ;)

Nani, I haven't had a zeppoli, yet. But I'll put getting one into our "to do" - list! :)

Don't worry, family. I'll take always lots and lots of pics! The trouble is that I'm not in them, ever... ;;D Maybe I have to ask mum to take few snaps, too, so you can see that I was actually there as well. ;)

get an all day bus pass, the transit system there is very good and you can just hop on and off the busses and tour the city with no problems.

You can also check out the web for walking tours and walk the city but I went for the bus, let me keep my strength for siteseeing.

and yes, watch out for the crooks. with only a little care you should be just fine.

That's good. Somebody told me that busses in Italy never arrive on time. I hope it's not true, though.
