Title: Re: Caution...Accident Ahead! Post by sandie99 on Jul 2nd, 2005, 9:35am Talking to cellphone while driving is against the law here. I still spot drivers who still do that on daily basis. I was only worried when I saw a bus driver wo did that! |

Title: Re: Caution...Accident Ahead! Post by jcmquix on Jul 2nd, 2005, 9:56am I live in Florida, and talking in your cell phone and driving is supposed to be Illeagal here. #1 Its rare to see someone here not talking on a phone a driving, not enough Law Enforcement. #2 The fine is only $35.00, if you get pulled over. Thats only if the Officer can prove you were actually talking on your cell phone (ex: another officer, picture) other wise they have to just give you a Verbal Warning & "Have a nice Day". I think the cops here just figure that is easyer for them to clean up the highway after the accident, than stop you and causing more accidents, from the Rubberneckers on the highway. |

The bus drivers here are on the radio all the time while driving. We hire older people and partial retirees in my town who are in touch with the base so they can go a few blocks out of their way to pick up older or handicapped passengers. Scary but what a nice thing that is though. No cell phones allowed in New York State while driving either but then it's impossible to enforce and a lot of "nice" people with influence get upset when they are the target. http://www.netsync.net/users/charlies/gifs/cell.gif Charlie |

Title: Re: Caution...Accident Ahead! Post by Lizzie2 on Jul 2nd, 2005, 3:55pm Um...is that a Mogwi (sp?) gone bad??? LMAO Now I want to watch "Gremlins" again... ;;D In Jersey, it's illegal to HOLD a cellphone and talk while driving. It is within the law to talk on the phone as long as you are using a hands-free device. Worst part about that is that I still have not seen a sign regarding that when crossing the border. PA has no such law - I often forget about that in Jersey and catch myself after I've been over the border for a little bit!! I don't know about most of the state, but lots of Jersey people I know do seem to have invested in hands free. Requiring hands free is probably likely to be more successful than banning cell phone use altogether, even though it still is not ideal!! |

Title: Re: Caution...Accident Ahead! Post by LeLimey on Jul 2nd, 2005, 3:57pm it must be illegal just about everywhere now isn't it? It is here too. I don't know what I'll do if they make putting mascara on while driving a crime... ;) |

;;D women do so much stuff while driving! Change cds, put on their make up, eat... ;;D but I must say that my dad was a real artist: he managed to drink coffee from a mug and eat sandwiches while driving! when I was a kid I didn't even think that there could be something risky in his actions. ::) |

Yeah what is it about dads?? Mine talks on the cell phone (hands free), smokes a cig (well not anymore...at least not when we're in the car because he says he quit), has a coffee, listens to the news or whatnot...and also drives like a maniac!!! |

Title: Re: Caution...Accident Ahead! Post by sandie99 on Jul 2nd, 2005, 6:51pm Yeah, what's with dads? Mine tried also teach other drivers how to drive! Cops actually pulled him over because of that. I was 5 and cried: Are they going to take daddy to jail now! [smiley=laugh.gif] Cops probably hear me because they let dad go with a warning... ;;D |

Title: Re: Caution...Accident Ahead! Post by purpleydog on Jul 3rd, 2005, 8:42pm Of course, you have the people who attempt to drink coffee, shave, read the morning paper, and drive a stick no less. All while trying to talk on the phone. While turning the corner. Yeah, I wish I could multi-task like that. |

Title: Re: Caution...Accident Ahead! Post by Lizzie2 on Jul 3rd, 2005, 9:05pm I agree, Chris! I rarely even answer my phone if I'm in the car! Sometimes I do, but usually just to say that I'll call them back when I get where I'm going! I drive and listen to the radio - that's about it! 8) |
