Title: Re: Cluster cutter Post by cootie on Jun 29th, 2005, 10:56pm Brad learned to make knives and alot about swords from a master swordmaker freind that has swords and knives displayd all over the world. He learned to make his own moca may and demascus (spelling) for totally homemade blades.....he uses masdadone for handles when he can get it. His brother sent him some from Alaska some time ago. He's not had time to fool around with knives lately tho. Used to hand make his horse shoes when he was shoeing too esp corrective shoes. No one does that anymore. Lost art Pam You can buy kits to make knives and swords now where you jus glue stuff together and add pins and attach to an already premade or molded steal blades. Not the same as the totally hand made art Brad knows....where the blades were MADE with tiny squares of metal melted and hand forged and shaped and filed. And the handles custom made from scratch. It really is a lost art......... |
