Title: I may be offline for a while Post by Drk^Angel on Jun 29th, 2005, 8:52am ***Rant/Whine/Whatever warning!!! Read at your own risk of boredom!*** Damn Verizon refuses to let me set up a payment agreement for my past due balance, so it looks like I may lose internet service soon. I guess that's what I get for being a customer for over 8 years without interruption (Nearly 7 years as a customer of their internet service). I have never broken a payment agreement with them, nor been late paying under an agreement, yet they have decided that they are unable to allow me to set up an agreement this time. Been unemployed for nearly a year, the last couple of months reduced to accepting cash assistance to try to get by, and a month before I'll start getting regular paychecks again, the not a very nice persons decide they'd rather fuck me over. Oh well... C'est la vie... Guess I'll live. Maybe it's about time I look into cable 'eh? :P Dunno when they'll shut me off, but it'll prolly be soon, so Cy'allz l8rz! Have a good one one! I'll check back in when I can. Be good! And all the rest of those sappy goodbyes. PFDAN................................ Drk^Angel P.S. All ya newbies... Welcome to the board... Sorry the beast is grinding your cranium into itty bitty pieces, stomping on the pieces with rusty, steel cleats before burning them to ashes, and then throwing the ashes into a pool of acid until they dissolve away. Welcome to the family! DA |

Title: Re: I may be offline for a while Post by Opus on Jun 29th, 2005, 7:17pm Ken, I have a Linksys WMP11 PCI Wifi card that I have no use for. Send me your address and it is yours. It has a broken antenna so you can solder some coax to it and build a super antenna (http://www.turnpoint.net/wireless/cantennahowto.html) to steal Internet from someones insecure AP. The downside, it has that broadcom chip, so it will only work in Linux with the wrapper, so you will have to make sure you have it and whatever winblows xp driver the wrapper will need to make it work. I will look for the winblows driver disk for it too, that is if I didn't toss it. on 06/29/05 at 12:49:10, Melissa wrote:
Mel, Once you have gone to broadband there is no turning back. On the other hand, This is a cheap dial-up (http://www.intergate.com/isp/index.shtml) company that is a real ISP and I have also heard that Netzero will give you the phone numbers and protocol so you can connect in Linux too. |

Single, A double downside will require 2 work arounds and you left arm to make it work. A triple downside would be going to the library and trying to to use IE with 15 spyware bars installed and using your entire alloted time to wait for a page to render while you kill popups. Opus/Paul |

Title: Re: I may be offline for a while Post by Drk^Angel on Jun 29th, 2005, 10:08pm They haven't booted my sorry ass off their network yet! Yay! :P So if they didn't cut my telephone, and they didn't cut my DSL, what the Hell was that shut off notice for? Oh well... I guess now I'm a floater... Just as long as I can keep floatin' 'til the paychecks are back, I don't mind. PFDAN................................. Drk^Angel |

Title: Re: I may be offline for a while Post by Drk^Angel on Jun 29th, 2005, 10:12pm BTW O... Thanks for the offer, but I actually don't need to build a coffee can antenna to borrow bandwidth... Last night I completely forgot about having a neighbor with a wide open 802.11g network that I can hop on from my living room. So if they do boot me, it shouldn't be as bad as I whined about last night. LOL PFDAN.................................... Drk^Angel |

Title: Re: I may be offline for a while Post by cootie on Jun 29th, 2005, 10:32pm Don't worry drk.....Verizon has found a new fuck......me.......I am in trouble over that cell phone mess. I went in and cancelled it and took it back within the 15 days. The girl told me they'd send me a refund check from Verizon but not that office I was at. I wanted some sort of paperwork of cancellation but she said they do NOT do it that way and I did not need anything. I stood there and told her I would like something !!! She said it was all taken care of and not to worry. I never got the refund but I did get a nice bill today from them for 300 bucks !!! Huh......WTF did that guy sign me up for anyhow !!! I paid him 213 bucks when I got the phone for activation blah blah blah.......as I was leaveing he mentiond I would get my first bill soon of aproximately 108 bucks which made me do a turnaround......huh.......some sort of one time charges......after my first other one time charges.....you know how it is. Bend over please !!!!! Some other person stepped up in line so I walked away kinda confused. Now I am really confused and Brad is PISSED AS HELL. Gonna let him call em and deal with it. I have to pay that bill here shortly and total is over 500 bucks for a on sale phone normally $ 149.00 (got it for 99 bucks) and supposidly super deal on my cell phone package....so where's the deal Pam |

Title: Re: I may be offline for a while Post by Drk^Angel on Jun 30th, 2005, 12:43am One time I tried to get a phone through T-Mobile. They approved me online, sent me the phone, and the only instructions they gave me at the time was to call to activate the phone when it is delivered. The phone arrived, I call T-Mobile to activate, and they inform me that I have to activate it at an authorized reseller, and they give me a list of three resellers in my area. The first two on the list didn't sell T-Mobile, and the third one went out of business a year prior. Giving up for the day, I stopped at K-mart on my way home, and noticed a T-Mobile poster in cellular reseller at the front of the store. After about a half an hour of beggin' the guy in the shop to do the activation for me, he calls T-Mobile, and they tell him that he'd have to secure a $400 deposit before the phone could be activated. Seeing as though I did not have $400, I had to send the phone back for credit before they charged me full price for it. So after a week of waiting for the phone to be delivered, about two hours of running all over town to try to activate it, and finally being told what they should have told me when I ordered the damn phone in the first place... I was out about $35 in shipping and handling charges that they refused to refund. Fun, fun, fun... LOL PFDAN................................. Drk^Angel |
