Title: I hate nights like last night
Post by tpitts77 on Jun 28th, 2005, 10:56am
I had 4 chs last night, 11:30, 1:30, 3:30 and 5:30. F- ing sucks :(.  O2 worked for 2 of them.  I must have woke up to late for the other 2, had to use Trex.  I have an important meeting today at work, so I couldn't catch up on my sleep.  Just wanted to vent a little.  Thanks for listening.

Tony

vig,

I take verapamil (150 mg daily) and indocin (480mg daily).  I took an extra Verapamil this morning and have been pf so far (Knock on wood).

You might want to look into increasing your verapamil... at 240 I was still getting hit... at 480 I'm PF...
Ask your doc if you can increase it, then ask for a new/higher prescription.

9 Mg of Melatonin at night might help.

Tony,
I am not a doctor or even a nurse (even though I play one sometimes) your verapamil sounds low to really help. You need to read more here about it and talk to your Doctor. Could make a HUGE difference!!!Most people are on a lot higher doses.

good advice...
Indocin?
why?
If I remember correctly, Indocin helps CPH, but doesn't do much for CH.

You sure you don't have those backwards?  Everything I've read says 200mg max per day.  MY doc told me 300mg was the upper limit.  I hope you're taking it with meals or with an antacid.  That stuff will eat your stomach up.

Exactly what I was thinking

Yeah,

I did have those backwards, OPPS.  480 mg Verapamil and 150 mg of Indocin SR.  I take an extra 240 mg Verapamil when they get bad like last night.  It usually works but sometimes I have to take prednisone to break the cycle.

I've been chronic since they started in '96.  This seems to work pretty well for me.  When I'm doing "good" I only get about 3 a week.  Those 3 usually abort with the O2 or Imitrex injections.

Thanks for the advice and in case your wondering my meeting went fine and I didn't fall asleep.

I like to think the bad nights help me appreciate the not so bad ones a little more.  Hard to believe something can make you appreciate a little less pain.

Hang in there, and work with your doc. to find the best med/treatment mix.

Dude, I think my Beast and your Beast must know all the same BEAST..... I had the same exact night almost, those BASTARDS had one hell of a party last night, I'm gonna snuff my BEAST tonight.

Hope you get some rest and PF nights..

We all know where you're comin from!  Keep the faith and PF sunshine vibes being sent to you as we speak.

Like some other people said, take melatonin and benadryl at night 1 hour before bed.  I take 9mg melatonin and 50mg dypenhydramine (benadryl, tylonol PM, unisom).
That is the most effective thing i have ever done to prevent CHs.  Of course if you get hit anyway, you still need trex, but it reduced my attacks by 75% and made it only like 1 to 2 per night......
PF wishes
BMonee

Vibes Tony... Hope the beast settles down for awhile. I know what you mean too, after a really bad one, the others make for a much better day.

Hang in there Tony. It's o.k. to let it out, sometimes it can be as good as another med not taken.
