I just got a new treatment for my arthritis. Humira.

Two shots a month.

Total for two shots $1433.86

40 mg

.08 cc or some shit.

all i know is - it's some EXPENSIVE shit.

1/2 an inch of clear liquid - in a prefilled syringe... with a rubber cap - over 700.00.
just dont seem legal.

what if i had to pay out of pocket for this shit and it didn't work..................
seems i should get my money back.

the biggest scam........... doncha think?

lets put some water in a syringe - and call it a breakthrough medication - charge 700.00 for it...

I hope like hell it works for ya. When I was using trex, back in the old days, I was spending about 1500.00 monthly on my trex, that is CO-PAY!!!!

That's a nice price.... I agree with you! Money back guarantee!!! I would have a lot more money right now if we could do that! hehe

You reminded me that I need to hunt down Eckerd Drugs to get back the $400+ dollars they charged me for one Amerge prescription. It was an insurance snafu last summer. Then, I found out a couple months ago that my insurance later did pay them for some of that, so I want my money!! Eckerd doesn't get to be paid twice... LOL

That med is for RA isn't it Woobs ? Have heard good things about it.......what do ya do when meds ya take start to make ya feel SICK........my day was practically ruin'd and I don't take high doses or nothin. Squeeked thru my meeting feelin like I wanted to crawl under the table and STAY. Everyone went to bike nite but I went home.....Brad's outa town for work and I jus wanted to go home. Shitty day in paradise Pam

EVERYTHING I have to take and rotate (and I take days off inbetween too) makes me sick sooner or later......mite feel great a few days then WHAM. No happy medium with anything.

The goal my doctor set is to take this Humira - and then when it kicks in (2-4 weeks) - we can start getting me off everything else - and then only be on Humira. Hope it works.

Hospitals already do that. Salt water-in-a-bag with a tube sharpened on one end to jab in a tender spot.

Based on a per dose price, that is friggin outrageous. Good thing you have good insurance.

Based on a per month cost, Imitrex is still more expensive. It can be taken up twice per day and some clusterheads need it more often than that. The vials run about $130 each here. Twice per day for 30 days, means if I could afford it, I would be paying $7800 per month. NO average working stiff could afford that and since insurance companies won't pay for it (at least not in that quantity), many clusterheads suffer through their attacks without the benefit of medication that could ease their pain.

Bottom line = prescription drug prices are just too friggin high regardless of what med you take.

Funny thing is......one of my scripts for my back is one of the most abused medications and saught after on the streets (don't worry I do NOT abuse it or sell it.....I am very strict on myself with the pain management deal my doc trusts me with)......but the shit is dirt fuckin cheap !! About 10 bucks for almost 100 tabs......without insurence it is about 16 bucks. Now......WTF is with the cost of meds anyhow and priceing......that is just WRONG why trex and this new stuff is so HIGH. Pisses me off to no end Pam

Guess ya PAY for what ya need and ya can't afford the rest !!!!??

The most disgusting part of it all: I read a study the other day, that stated that the leading cause of bankruptcy among the elderly, is medical costs. That's just SICK!! Work your whole life, retire, and then end up in the poor house because of medical bills. >:( [smiley=mad.gif] [smiley=furious.gif]

I agree cootie. The real good stuff that will fix the problem is too expensive - but we can afford to get doped up. No pain - No problemo - right?

and by the way - i know trex is expensive........i wasn't denying that - or taking away from it ....
like i said - i was just floored that it costs over $700 for ONE shot. ONE................... UNO.

Yep......Cause it takes years and tens of millions of dollars to get the drug by FDA......they need to recoop that cost.

For evey drug that is approved (so many, I dont know how many) are shot down.....still, they put out millions testing them.

Its called recoop our money on failed meds!

Goverment is in on it!!....Bastards!

Frank you said it. Old people don't have a prayer.
My mom doesn't take some of her meds because of the cost. I know Dads meds cost as much as $200 a months supply for just one pill. There in the end he was taking all kinds. Insurance turned down a lot of his drugs. He had to pay out of pocket.
Buddy and I just got back on our feet after I had all my health problems. The cost of Drugs and doctors like to of took us down.
I think a lot of people die because they can't aford what meds they need.
Its really sad.

I am so glad Woobie you have good insurance. I hope it works ! I will be praying for ya girl!

That is some expensive shit! And I thought my HRT for one month was bad - $966.00.
Though it does takes years to develope new meds and pay for ones that fail (or even kill) you can't deny that it is a rip-off when you pay 28.00 bucks for a pill that costs .17 cents to manufacture.

I saw on the news that President Bush wants more meds covered under medicare to help elderly.

That's a good idea since he also wants to destroy their Social Security income.
