Title: Re: Spider Post by Frank_W on Jun 6th, 2005, 3:48pm I saw one like that, a couple of years ago, when I was clearing a bunch of blackberry vines, honeysuckle, and jasmine from the back of my land. She was sitting on an eggsac too, so I thought, "Okay, Ms. Spider, I'll give you plenty of room. Live and let live." Later, as I was working, I must have brushed against the stalk she was sitting on, because the next thing I knew, I felt a horrible sting on the inside of my left elbow. I looked, and there was a large red welt that was itching and burning. Fuck it: That was an act of war, so I promptly chopped down the stalk that she was sitting on with my machete, destroyed her web, stomped her into the dirt, ground the whole eggcase under my heel, sprayed the whole thing with lighter fluid and commenced to burn everything within a 2' radius. Bitch. >:( Other than that, uh... pretty spider! :) |

Title: Re: Spider Post by cootie on Jun 6th, 2005, 11:05pm I'm scared shitless of spiders and bee's !! I'm so out of control freaked out by them I scare myself. Have had jumping spiders get in my vehicles and as I go down the road they decide to do scare tactics !! Jumpin from the visor onto my steering wheel and turn to look at me cuz my face is next is a left of center waiting to happen Pam I've been haveing trouble with these big bumble bee's boreing into my wood frame'd kennel and porch overhangs and screen room too. Been sprayin the holes but they seem to be back next day boreing deeper. Piles of sawdust everywhere.....can't believe how big the holes are and figure they are doin some structure damage year by year. Any ideas ?? Some have been attacking me that I have blocked there holes up and they seem to remember it and wait for me from then on as they look for new places to drill into !! |

Title: Re: Spider Post by Charlie on Jun 7th, 2005, 4:32am I always think of my cousin Holly who has carried out spiders, all kinds of insects and mice from her home so as not to harm these creatures.....as I stomp, burn, spray, slice, smash or otherwise slay all the various pests that stumble in here. http://www.netsync.net/users/charlies/gifs/stopit!.gif Cool pictures though Charlie |

Title: Re: Spider Post by Langa on Jun 7th, 2005, 9:59am Nani, I know spiders eat bugs...that's what Crystal tells me anyway...she says I can't kill them cause they eat the bugs (and she is terrified of bugs)...so meanwhile I have to see them crawling around...? Don't think so. If she's home, she carries them out, if not, they get stomped... :P By the way, Peanut killed a chipmunk and brought me the mutilated corpse last night...laid the lil present at my feet...she was completely thrilled with herself while Crys and I had a hissy fit. LOL...the downside of the food chain in action. I'm lucky that my dogs don't do much of that. They do chase skunks out of the yard, often with malodorus results. Didja know that skunk isn't the worst smell in the world, just the MOST smell in the world. Ah...the joys of rural living... |

Title: Re: Spider Post by Bethany1 on Jun 7th, 2005, 10:06am I like spiders too, just not that alien thing that langa posted. Didn't they used to say that if you killed a spider, it would rain? Anyways, I stopped stomping on spiders after I saw Charlottes Web. |

Title: Re: Spider Post by cootie on Jun 7th, 2005, 10:36am Carpenter bees......are they the size of a golf ball.....well close at least ? They need to take up carpentry somewhere else......or should I go find a really nice house I like and start makeing it MINE too and start drilling and rearrangeing things to fit my family. Carpenter coots Pam I just killed the bastard that had it out for me and I keep destroyin his 'would be holes' with spray but he escapes. He's been starting a new hole by the slideing door and the minute I walk out he goes after me. Holy shit is that one a big boy bee too !!!! I scream and run and slam into stuff and fall.....good grief. Paronoia is an evil thing. |

Title: Re: Spider Post by giffy76 on Jun 7th, 2005, 10:44am "The carpenter bee" The female is the one that boars holes, she then goes in and lays eggs. The guard bee "male" is the one that tries to atack you but he's all talk cause he doesn't have a stinger only the female has a stinger. You can kill the bees but if they have already layed eggs you need to put seven dust into the holes to kill the eggs, and the holes can be up to 4 ft. long "I use a snot sucker for babys". I have done alot of research on this because the bees eat my log cabin. |

Title: Re: Spider Post by nani on Jun 7th, 2005, 10:47am giffy, since you and cootie live near each other, I think you need to get over there asap and dust for her. They freak her out. |

Title: Re: Spider Post by cootie on Jun 7th, 2005, 10:56am Isn't that totally cool a ch'r lives rite NEAR me......and here we met some years back too at a party !!! The bee I knocked down a bit ago was the one digging the new hole. So that must mean the one that kept attacking me was her 'knewt' boyfriend......oh so he's still 'out there' looking for me ? Hope he meets a new bee and moves on......he'll prolly be headin up to your cabin soon giffy. But doubt he stays if that spray works. Dam bee is still kickin tho on it's back on the deck......it is CREEPING ME OUT !!! Die monster die Pam Ahhhhh anuther Miller drinker !!!!! ;;D |

Title: Re: Spider Post by high_commander on Jun 7th, 2005, 6:30pm Now the funniest thing to watch is when our cats corner a Daddy long legs.... Imagine...an eight pound cat skittishly prancing about the garage floor scared that this 1/1000th of an ounce spider may move towards him. After about ten minutes, the fear gives in to utter fascination, and the cat is laying sprawled on his side, bouncing the spider. Paw outstreached, spider trying to rise and leave, the cat lowers his paw on the spider, just enough to stop it. Fast forward another ten minutes and the cat is now bored, stands up, crushes the little beastie and swallows him whole. And somehow, one leg always manages to stick out of the cats mouth....twitching. Then its on to the next one........................... ;;D ::) Danielle |
