Title: How should I take this? Post by aprilbee on Jun 3rd, 2005, 11:54am I saw my neuro yesterday, to try ANOTHER preventative...not my point though...I was telling him about the medications and treatments I have read here. He looked at me like I was goofy and continued with the typical "look at my finger" exam. Then he says, "so you are online talking with a lot of old men on that website?" What the fuck does that mean??? I quickly answered with a resounding "NO" and tried telling him about the website and the people, he didn't want to hear any of it...I'm seriously thinking about getting a new neuro... ::) |

Title: Re: How should I take this? Post by thomas on Jun 3rd, 2005, 12:00pm Maybe he's like me, when I get people who try and tell me about stuff they've read on the internet as far as fixing their cars go, I let it go in one ear and out the other. You've got to realize most of the crap on the internet is just that, crap. This place is an exception to that rule. I tend to use the term "World wide support group" myself. |

Is that what you all are? Damn, and I thought you all were neuro's. Or are neuro's all old men? Or does your neuro want to find a place where he can be a dirty old man and talk to clusterheads about their pain? What a jack ass! Knee to the groin might have actually been appropriate. Sorry to hear you had to deal with such a jerk. I agree with Langa. Scott |

Aww... That's what this site is! :) But April, I have met 5 neuros so far. Find the kind who takes you seriously and listens to you. And DON'T accept meds you don't want. You're the one with the pain in your head, not the doc. He has no idea what battle you're fighting! |

Title: Re: How should I take this? Post by karma on Jun 3rd, 2005, 12:04pm It doesn't really matter what he thinks about this place. The question is, Is he educated about CH and is he helping you. How you answer that question should guide you. |

I think that Karma is spot on. Let him be a jerk about the internet, but if he is helping you with the pain, maybe biting your lip and refusing to kick him is worth it. Casey |

Title: Re: How should I take this? Post by Gator on Jun 3rd, 2005, 2:46pm You are from the OKC area, right? Who are you seeing? I have seen Dr. Marc Lenearts at the OU Medical Center Neurology twice so far and he seems very receptive to information from ch.com - even info about psilocybin, lsd/lsa and kudzu. He asked me to send him links to the info and thanked me when I did. He also listens to and discusses input about other medications I have seen discussed on this board. He spends a lot more time with me than either my GP or my two previous neuros. Apparently, he has around 5 - 7 clusterhead patients. I am going to take him some materials to give out to the clusterheads and ask him to recommend this website. I get the feeling he will do it. If you're interested, here is his contact info: Dr. Marc Lenaerts OU Physicians, Dept of Neurology 711 Stanton L. young BLVD, Ste 310 Oklahoma City, OK 73104 PH#: 405-271-3535 FAX: 405-271-2523 He is in the Presbyterian Professional Building. Actually, they are in Suite 210 right now. A lot of construction going on in the building. |

Title: Re: How should I take this? Post by kimmeesue on Jun 3rd, 2005, 5:33pm My first neuro came into the exam room like a whirling dervish and almost maniacally exclaimed she was going to cure me of my headaches. She specializes in headaches/neurosurgery. I gave her a year and guess what...I went chronic and she acted like I wasn't cooperating. I found a new doc who at least doesn't make empty promises. |

Title: Re: How should I take this? Post by Charlie on Jun 3rd, 2005, 10:16pm You know more than he. Tell him so. My neurologist has asked me several times what's the latest from us. He knows I suffered for 23 years but see him now just for my seizures. He's a pretty good little twerp. Dump him. http://www.netsync.net/users/charlies/gifs/purple snarl.gif Charlie |
