Title: Anyone ever try these? Post by Woobie on May 31st, 2005, 2:32pm Got this email today......... dont know if it works... but it's interesting anyhow. Did you know this about vodka? 1. To remove a bandage painlessly, saturate the bandage with vodka. The solvent dissolves adhesive 2. To clean the caulking around bathtubs and showers, fill a trigger-spray bottle with vodka, spray the caulking, let set five minutes and wash clean. The alcohol in the vodka kills mold and mildew. 3. To clean your eyeglasses, simply wipe the lenses with a soft, clean cloth dampened with vodka. The alcohol in the vodka cleans the glass and kills germs. 4. Prolong the life of razors by filling a cup with vodka and letting your safety razor blade soak in the alcohol after shaving. The vodka disinfects the blade and prevents rusting. 5. Spray vodka on vomit stains, scrub with a brush, and then blot dry. 6. Using a cotton ball, apply vodka to your face as an astringent to cleanse the skin and tighten pores. 7. Add a jigger of vodka to a 12-ounce bottle of shampoo. The alcohol cleanses the scalp, removes toxins from hair, and stimulates the growth of healthy hair. REALLY?? Is this true? 8. Fill a sixteen-ounce trigger-spray bottle and spray bees or wasps to kill them. 9. Pour one-half cup vodka and one-half cup water in a Ziploc freezer bag and freeze for a slushy, refreshable ice pack for aches, pain or black eyes. I know this one works... 10. Fill a clean, used mayonnaise jar with freshly packed lavender flowers, fill the jar with vodka, seal the lid tightly and set in the sun for three days. Strain liquid through a coffee filter, then apply the tincture to aches and pains. 11. To relieve a fever, use a washcloth to rub vodka on your chest and back as a liniment. 12. To cure foot odor, wash your feet with vodka. 13. Vodka will disinfect and alleviate a jellyfish sting. 14. Pour vodka over an area affected with poison ivy to remove the urushiol oil from your skin. 15. Swish a shot of vodka over an aching tooth. Allow your gums to absorb some of the alcohol to numb the pain. And silly me . I've only been drinking the stuff!!! |

Title: Re: Anyone ever try these? Post by seasonalboomer on May 31st, 2005, 2:43pm It was either this list of potential "off label" Vodka uses or a straight copycat of the phrase: "Got Vodka" for this year's Russian Federation Vodka Marketing Association campaign for 2005. |

One might assume that the Vodka is what produced the vomit in the first place. Vodka in/ Vodka out. Quote:
Or at least get them so hammered they'll find better things to do besides stinging you. Linda |

Title: Re: Anyone ever try these? Post by echo on May 31st, 2005, 3:32pm 18 - a mixture of vodka and fine ground sand can be used to kill body crabs. Soak your pubic region with vodka and sprinkle in the sand. Wait for about 30 minutes and resoak with vodka and sand. The little fuckers will get drunk and stone each other to death. |

Title: Re: Anyone ever try these? Post by Jimmy_B on May 31st, 2005, 3:54pm I know #9 works with vodka...(making a homemade ice bag), but's it's a lot cheaper to substitute rubbing alcohol. Also a cool way to remove a tick: When you remove a tick with tweezers, sometimes the head breaks off and remains embedded in the skin. Here is a simple, painless method for removing ticks without leaving any parts behind: Moisten a cotton ball with a little water and rub it on a bar of soap. Cover the tick with the soapy cotton ball and rub gently counterclockwise. (For some reason, the tick stays in the skin if you rub in the other direction.) After one or two circles, you will find the tick intact on the cotton ball. This technique never fails, doesn’t hurt. Finish by washing the bite site with more soap and water and applying antiseptic. I've tried it on our Shih Tsu and it really works! Jimmy |

Title: Re: Anyone ever try these? Post by Lizzie2 on May 31st, 2005, 4:22pm So I shouldn't have thrown out my handle of Banker's Club Vodka yesterday, is what you are saying???? My brother told me that drinking a $5 handle of vodka would make me puke more, so I tossed it down the drain. Had I known there were THIS many uses, then I'd have saved that crap around the house for this!!! lol Lizzie :) |

LMAO [smiley=laugh.gif] Or you can shave half your pubic area. Soak the other half in Vodka. Light the vodka on fire and when the crabs come running out of the fire club them with a 2 X 4. |

Title: Re: Anyone ever try these? Post by BarbaraD on May 31st, 2005, 4:36pm Works for me..... And I just thought Vodka made you 8'tall, bulletproof, and VERY funny..... Now I have a REASON to keep it on hand..... Hugs BD P.s. I just love home remedies..... Try soaking white rasins with gin and let stand two weeks. Then eat 9 a day for arthritis. Heard it cures it right up -- not near as messy as WD-40. ;;D |

Title: Re: Anyone ever try these? Post by Drk^Angel on May 31st, 2005, 8:20pm Ya know... Ya can save a bit of money by using rubbing alcohol for almost all these tips, and in some stores you can even get it in 150 proof or more. Also, about the shampoo tip, that could explain why some shampoos have a little alcohol in it. PFDAN...................................... Drk^Angel |

I would not try this. My eye doctor told me NEVER to clean your glasses with windex, or any window cleaner, as it removes any protective film that they put on eyeglasses. I think the alcohol is what does that. Also, this seems like something the vodka manufactureres would put out. I think Drk^Angel hit on the right idea, here: Quote:

Title: Re: Anyone ever try these? Post by Drk^Angel on Jun 1st, 2005, 3:50am Uncoated, glass lenses would prolly be okay, but nowadays, everyone has coated, plastic lenses, and most of 'em are very sensitive to cleaning agents. Last pair of glasses I wasted money on had the anti-glare coating, damn shit wore off in a week, and all I used for cleaning 'em was a microfiber cloth and water. Oh well... Wonder if the scratch resistant coating would've helped... LOL :P PFDAN........................................... Drk^Angel |

Title: Re: Anyone ever try these? Post by Frank_W on Jun 1st, 2005, 7:53am I use Everclear for cleaning computer components. The last time I actually DRANK Everclear was in 1987. We made up a batch of Everclear and Kool-Aid in a punchbowl, with lots of diced fruit at the bottom, and dubbed it, "Purple Jesus." I don't remember much else about that evening. There was some nakedness, some people having drugs, others having sex on the balcony, and a lot of thunderous chunky vomit, later named, "The Hell Chunder." |
