Title: Think YOUNG Think THIN....... Post by Ree on May 28th, 2005, 10:36am ok Im working out again....... slowly..... trying to keep off the lbs that someone else lost that found me......!!! Im usually tops at 110 lbs......well Im stayin at 118 and with my 5' stature it ain't good.... after all my mind is still 17...... soooooooo lets buddy up.......! buy a jump rope..... its the best excersize for cellulite.... good for the cardio....... etc... 100 fast jumps 3-4 x a week and build up to everyday...... then we will do it 2x a day....... also crunches...... good for the six pack that has turned into a 12 pack..... start small 3 sets of 20...... we can do this..... also walk..... 3 x a week 45 minutes... its great for the pysche (sp) and your ass.......yes I said ass....... you can pray or just work off some of those problems...... let's...... whose with me...... We have never stressed the importance of excersize on this board and it truly is..... I was told by my doc that I can ward off the diabetis that is killing my dad and the blood pressure that is killing my mom by just walking..... sounds easy.......Lets do it......!!! ok flame away.......I know there are some of you out there saying ooooo little Ree 118lbs and she thinks she's fat....... well for me..... yes this is uncomfortable and my clothes are tight.... and if I don't do something about it..... it will turn into 128.....138.... 148 then diabetis then the high blood pressure.....Hell I should just start smoking again......shoot some crack and put myself out of my misery....... Title: Re: Think YOUNG Think THIN....... Post by Kim Y. on May 28th, 2005, 10:50am Good plan Ree protecting yourself from diabetes and HBP. I have been working on that myself but it is mostly with diet lately because my head drives me crazy and I have no energy to deal with exercise and the HA. On good days I try to get out and do something. Wish I could say that I had as little as you to loose but am working on it. Good luck I am cheering you on. Kim |

Title: Re: Think YOUNG Think THIN....... Post by high_commander on May 28th, 2005, 4:29pm I salute you Ree !! (as I drink my chai tea, made with 35% cream ;;D) I have a thigh that weighs almost as much as you do, so I am trying... 30 lbs off since last fall, but a whole lot to go before surgery this fall. (Sept 7th) The more you weigh, the harder the surgery, so I decided to try and make things easier for my surgeon. My neighbour and I want to trade metabolisms for a bit, she's 5 ft tall and can't gain weight !! She's down to 92 lbs, and trying desperatly to pack on the pounds. I'm 5'10" and make almost three of her ! My diet's pretty good, and I have no health problems, besides the head and the need for surgery, so it should be ok. Just need to find out where that "willpower" stuff is sold and i'll be set ;;D Somehow though, I don't think the floor joists in my 65 year old house would forgive me if I jumped rope. :o :o By the way, had my boobs reduced, still a "DD"....wish I could share. Guys......no, I won't post pics ! ::) Danielle |

Title: Re: Think YOUNG Think THIN....... Post by MargaretG on May 28th, 2005, 5:38pm Being no longer young, I don't try to do the impossible, but my husband and I walk 1 1/3 mile 5 days a week. Due to progression of arthritis I no longer do any impact or resistance exercises. I really miss working out in the water but reached a point where I could not stay in the regular pool for an hour a day, and the therapy pool just isn't deep enough to do anything significent. I miss it but not enough to pay the monthly fee to go once a week. You are certainly on the right track working to prevent diabetes and high blood pressure. I commend your efforts and wish you well! :) |

Title: Re: Think YOUNG Think THIN....... Post by cootie on May 30th, 2005, 3:48pm I bought a weight bench several years ago with the weights that slide and all that jazz.......workin out regular is good for keepin things "where they belong". And a good HABIT to develope which also makes you more weight connsious when you see results as far as following a diet a bit easier and staying fit. Keep up the good work Ree.....I agree about the weight gain bein 5' myself......anything over 110 is a bag sag or buldge. How much energy does it take to break a nose.....I did that amazeing exercise Friday nite......beer and computer chairs with wheels while NODDING out being too tired do not mix. Have wheels will travel Pam (wheels traveld while I smacked the desk knocking myself out....looks NASTY) Sorry to hear Dave needs more work done....... |

Title: Re: Think YOUNG Think THIN....... Post by Lizzie2 on May 30th, 2005, 8:53pm LOL I'm only allowed to swim, but your workout sounds good!! I used to figure skate, as a bunch of you know. And for years I played a lot of sports - many of which I'd like to go back to: tennis, skiing, etc... Anyhow...they told me that even standing and walking are going to lead to a joint collapse in my knees, but I AM allowed to swim!! It's hard to lose weight swimming, but you can get in pretty good shape as it does build some strength and muscle! I lost about 15 pounds since January simply with the way I was eating. I wasn't even trying to lose - just with running around nonstop for nursing and then barely even having time to eat or being too tired to eat...that kind of thing. LOL I have surgery on Wednesday, and then I'm headed to Florida June 12-18...I plan to swim every day and build up my leg muscles again so that I'm not putting as much stress on the joint - then maybe I can go back to skating especially, since it is my favorite. :) Good luck to ya! Lizzie :) |

Title: Re: Think YOUNG Think THIN....... Post by cootie on May 30th, 2005, 10:41pm Welp THANK YOU Ree.......I don't look very good with a broken nose and a swollen jaw tho.......I've always kind a thought jogging and alot of the impact exerciseing was not good for the joints in the long run so I never got into it. Excess wear and tear comes in several ways Pam I think broken bones and stuff classifies as an impact exercise doesn't it ? :P |
