Does anyone have any idea how they measure 5th wheel campers? When they say it's a 24ft, does that mean 24 feet from the tailgate back, or 24ft from the bed space (above the box) to the very end? Reason why I'm asking, is we're looking at buying one, and hubby has a 1 ton extended cab dually he'll pull it with, only we need to hitch up our 16 1/2 foot boat to the back of the camper (I think the trailer itself is 18ft).

Don't have any experience with campers but I do have abit of experience with the set up.
24 feet is probably the overall length of the camper. Fifth wheel pin is probably 24"-30" from the front of the box which will give you 24"-30" overhang from the center of the fifth wheel. (This is just a guess)
Make sure when your installing the fifth wheel that you have enough clearance between the back of the truck and the camper legs for turns.
You will have to have all the specs before you install the fifth wheel. Guessing is probably not a good idea but the camper manufacturere or dealer should have all that info.
You'll have to get used to dropping off the boat before trying to back up the camper. It will be impossible to back up both together.

Normally the camper is measured from front to back, not from the tailgate back.

If I am reading your post correctly, you want to pull a 5th wheel camper AND a 18 foot boat with a ton chassis dually? I'm not sure you can do that legally. I know in NC you couldn't. Even if you can do so, that dually better have one hell of an engine.......and a driver experienced in pulling dual trailers, it's not as easy as it looks.

Karma, thank you for the information! Hubby already knows about the backing up and such, how we'll have to unhook the boat.

Bill-yes, hubby has experience pulling loads of trailers and you can piggyback in WI. Our boat is an 89' Stratos 16.5 ft. F&S, and the Chev is a 7.4 ltr., what is that, a 454? It already has the hole for a gooseneck, as that is what the guy we bought it from did, hauling heavy equiptment, etc.

Forgot to add, it also has Air Ride? Is that what it's called?, where you do the toggle inside to adjust the payload weight? Cripes, I don't know, air lift maybe? It has a bird on it with a red head I think...
