Congrats, way to go. I'm sure you will be a great nurse.

My daughter just graduated from high school last Sunday. I just passed my CNA tonight and am working on an AAS in practical nursing.

I hope I can accomplish what you have done so far. Do you have any advise for me?

Well done Lizzie and wishing you all the best.

Tim

Congrats Tim!  That's wonderful that you've become a CNA.  A few students in my program worked as CNAs for awhile, but then our program was a one year second degree for students who had a bachelors in something other than nursing.

What does AAS stand for?  May be the same as ADN at our school, but just wondering what it stands for!

My biggest advice is just to hold on and get through it minute by minute.  Don't freak out about all that has to go on and everything you have to do.  Try not to freak out if your health screws up your schedule or something big time...because you'll make it!!!

Anything is possible... ;)

Hugz,
Carrie :)

Sorry I called you Lizzie. An AAS is an Associate of Applied Science it's recommened if a person wants to continue on with school, RN, BSN or whatever. I am an older than average student but things have been going pretty well so far. I barely made it through high school. I found if I just do my work I do pretty well. I'll just keep plugging away.

Thanks Carrie, Tim

Well....less hectic as far as school is concerned, how's that for starters?

This Saturday, Dave and I are going out to a nice dinner down in the city (this is no small task as we are both very picky eaters and have only a couple things in common which we both like!), and then we are headed down to the Jersey shore Saturday night through very early Monday morning.

Monday, my dad is bringing a UHaul down to my apartment to pick up the rest of my stuff.  Speaking of which, I gotta go back down this Thursday to Friday to move out some more things - or at least get them packed up.

Next week on June 1, I'm having bilateral knee surgery for Avascular Necrosis in both knees and a torn meniscus in the right knee from a combination of my own biology and taking steroids to treat headache/migraine.  I'll have to stay overnight for pain control, and it's at a different hospital in Philly because I have to go through the University of Pennsylvania instead of Jefferson to find a specialist in AVN.  I'm not thrilled about that, and I don't particularly like the hospital location in the city, but I'm hoping that the surgery itself will be okay!  I was on crutches earlier this week, but resting the left knee made it feel lots better, so I've been off the crutches for a few days now - but I'll be on them for a little while after surgery - up to a month, but we'll see how I do.

On June 12-18, I'm headed to Florida to stay with my grandparents in Sarasota.  Can't wait! :)

Then June 23-26 is the American Headache Society conference in Philadelphia.  Sooooooo I'm staying with a friend down at the convention center since I'll be long out of my apartment by then and living at home.

June 27 starts my orientation at Jefferson for the new job.  First I have to go through hospital central orientation for like...the 4th time at LEAST.  You'd think they'd let us slip by if we've been working, living, etc at Jefferson for a long time now!  haha

I *do* still have to schedule my board exams - and I believe that I have 90 days to take them, so I'm going to take a look at that tomorrow.  I'd rather get it done sooner than later while the info is still fresh in my mind.

This fall, I'll start taking one online masters class for my nurse practitioner.  I already have 9 credits (3 classes) done for my masters because of the type of program I just graduated from, but I'm in no rush to get my masters!  I need to spend time now getting my own life in order.

I think in August, I'll be moving to a new apartment.  The apartment at the top of the list right now is in King of Prussia.  May go look at the complex this week to check things out - but we'll see!

So...less hectic?  Doubt it - but I don't think I'd even know what to do with myself if I had much free time. :)  I'm excited to take my 2 vacations and to not really have to worry about anything educational for awhile!

Just happy to finally have made it through...6 straight years of college, 2 degrees later, I'm sick of school!  :P

Hugz,
Carrie :)
