Title: Bittersweet Reunion Post by clarence on May 21st, 2005, 1:15pm Wicked strange reconnection with an old friend. This past weekend I drove to Rochester NY to see a few old friends from Seminary. While there, one of my friends says that in an update letter, another friend mentioned that he had been diagnosed with Cluster Headache. So, I find out that one of my best friends that I haven't seen for about 3 years is living with the beast. So, I emailed him. He emails back, and says that he was diagnosed last fall, and that his HA's started a year ago this month. And then he just called me, and we talked about living with the beast. He graduated a year ahead of me, and so when he left, I was still dealing with misdiagnosis, and he never knew that I was finally diagnosed with CH. Derek told me that he has been on this site, and that it was amazing for him to read about others who battle the beast. It was amazing for me that someone I was so close to has Clusters too. Is it just too strange that two good friends would both turn out to be clusterheads? Weird... Casey |

Title: Re: Bittersweet Reunion Post by pattik on May 21st, 2005, 1:47pm Some think that there is no such thing as coincidence...anyway it's a small world isn't it? It could be a great help to both of you to have a personal connection with a fellow sufferer. Great story! pk :) |

Title: Re: Bittersweet Reunion Post by floridian on May 21st, 2005, 2:09pm Just found out that one of my co-workers also has clusters ... there was a work picnic thursday night, and he had to leave early when the beast appeared. I guess he made a graceful exit, I didn't find out until the next day. Told him about this site and some of the others - he takes imitrex when things get bad, naproxyn (which he knows doesn't help, and is wrecking his stomach) and some other med he couldn't remember. Ten years of intermittent hell for me, and I bump into my first fellow sufferer (that I know has the beast). |

Title: Re: Bittersweet Reunion Post by Kim Y. on May 22nd, 2005, 11:47am Only person that I have come in contact that was remotely would be a resident with Trigeminal Neuralgia. I can sympathize with but don't know quit what she is going through except for knowing how I feel when the blood vessel rubs up against the damn nerve. Hers is the nerve itself. I hope to someday meet others but till then I have this sight. Casey: Good the know that you have someone that understands you that is close to you. Sorry that your friend and you have something like this in common though. Kim |

Title: Re: Bittersweet Reunion Post by Jonny on May 22nd, 2005, 12:10pm To date I have met about 100 clusterheads face to face, many of them up to three times. I met my first clusterhead after well over 20 years alone with this beast, what a site for sore eyes she was :'( |
