Title: Small Vent Post by Lizzie2 on May 19th, 2005, 5:57pm OK Soooooo I just got back from hiking it up to Market Street and over to 12th street to get to Kinko's to order a banner for my honors presentation on Monday. On crutches because my left knee has blown its cool. Then I go to the Verizon store on my way back cuz I noticed it (since I was going about the pace of a snail) and remember that my cell phone is semi-broken. I take it in, the girl says it'll cost me $50 to repair. Not worth it. The damn thing doesn't work anywhere. (So if anyone uses a mobile phone service besides verizon and would like to sing its praises, now would be a good time for that.) I got back here...fortunately someone opened all the doors for me to get into my apartment. I sit down and write a couple of things online, and the fire alarm goes off. Our fire alarm rings and talks. I'm thinkin'..."Great. Crutches down 9 stories....I'd almost rather burn up in the fire!" So I grab my crutches and go hopping on down the stairs. I get down there and this Jefferson guy is announcing how it was all just a drill! I'm soooooooooooo glad that I just hopped down 9 flights of stairs on crutches for a drill! Next time I think I'll wait until I smell the smoke. >:( Vent done - all better. LOL :) |

Title: Re: Small Vent Post by Jonny on May 19th, 2005, 6:26pm Vent? Try fabricating a $22,000 job, delivering it, only for the customer to wait on the installation for three weeks. in those three weeks they changed 1/3 of the jobsite...now the 1/3 of the rails wont fit and I have not been paid. Customer says that either I give him a huge break and fix the rails to fit or he will go elsewhere with my money. Guess who I will be visiting very soon when he least expects it? |

Title: Re: Small Vent Post by sandie99 on May 20th, 2005, 1:23am Fire drills... That brings back memories from my uni days in UK. We had them all the time at the halls of residence. If it wasn't scheduled on Friday morning, then it was stupid kiddos playing with stuff at 3am on a Thursday or Sunday. >:( And then the main campus had them, too. Luckily, I had to walk down just 3 floors. But once in pouring rain... :( I tell you, once you've been pulled out of bed to run 4 floors down at the halls, wait 45 minutes outside in cold/rain/whatever, you truly feel that you'll wanna see some smoke before you go! |
