Title: Kissmyglass or Fubar, cheap fish? Post by Melissa on May 19th, 2005, 5:30pm Ok, I have a glass fish, and I was wondering if either of you knows who made it. It weighs 22.7 oz., has only a few microscopic bubbles in the fishes body. Where the hell would one get something like this anyway? I got it at an estate sale this morning, hasn't been cleaned yet, and I'm planning on keeping it. :) http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v708/mfiltz/fish1.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v708/mfiltz/fish2.jpg Whatcha think? 8)mel |

Title: Re: Kissmyglass or Fubar, cheap fish? Post by Mr. Happy on May 20th, 2005, 12:25am Heya, Mel! Just checked w/Bay for Glass Fish. There's a glass fish tank going for about $150, but everything else was priced cheaper than the shipping and handling........which only proves one thing: It's worth millions or $1.95 RJ |

Title: Re: Kissmyglass or Fubar, cheap fish? Post by kissmyglass on May 21st, 2005, 12:22pm Hey Mel, Cool fish but probably not very valuable :( It's near impossible to say who made it as it was most likely made by a worker. At the end of the day, instead of throwing away the small amounts of glass left over in the vats,(a little blue in the tail, crystal, amber) the worker made the fish and brought it home or gave it to someone. If you look at a pic of Fubars fish you should be able to see quality & workmanship. Wish I had better news but it is cool & if you like it, thats all that matters. Keep trying, you'll hit the jackpot one of these days :) Jonny, sorry I missed your call! Kev |

Title: Re: Kissmyglass or Fubar, cheap fish? Post by Melissa on May 21st, 2005, 6:53pm Hey Kev, thanks for replying hon. I do like the fish, and the story about the worker makes me like it all the more. :) As for glass pieces, I only buy what I like, for I could never become a glass expert. It's just too hard! I'm actually becoming quite good at recognizing good vintage pottery & jewelry myself. Anyway, I have a couple glass pieces I am in love with, one's a Fenton Blue carnival glass bud vase and the 2 others are peach carnival glass candy dishes. I'm not sure who made them tho. I do have a Hoosier Glass 5 1/2" tall vase that is a #6 4071 that looks like white carnival glass, but I'm not sure. :)mel |
