Title: 100 years!!! let's cheer him on...! Post by Ree on May 16th, 2005, 11:26pm My daddy has taken a turn for the worse... Not a normal 82 year old, a man that wants to live for 100 years...... As you all know he had another surgery and because of his diabetis....he lost a toe... Had a bypass and a vein replaced in his leg... 2 major surgeries... He had been recooperating very well till last week when he came down with a fever. Well, his incisions are infected with staff infection and its looking bleak...He then dehydrated and now the fluid from the iv antibiotics has collected in his lungs and my dad suffered a heart attack (Congestive heart failure) on Friday night. All the while I sat helplessly by....... it sucks..... Im his dolly!!! I am the daughter and the one making decisions, decisions that I don't like making. My mom is 80 and is house bound herself so I've been wearing myself thin going back and forth, but loving my time with DAD... They called me at 4:00 am Saturday and asked that he be put on a respirator. They also said I pretty much didnt have a choice because my dad wants to live and they are saving his life as best they can. He is fighting so hard to stay alive. When I went in to see him his bright green eyes smiled at me over the respiration tubes...now today he is tired and dissapointed that they have to keep him on the respirator til he can breathe on his own...... please..... this isnt just any old man....... he is so young.....Help me cheer my dad on so he CAN grow old...... please..... I love you all and appreciate your thoughts prayers and any help you can give..... God bless....and know that I know that Jesus knows what is right for my DAD... I know it's hard, Reebanana, but you have to steal a little time for YOU through this too, ok? Where would your family be if YOU crashed? Your dad would spank you good if you let that happen. He has two grandsons that are fighting for us and they need another example. As Margi said, please do take some time to take care of yourself.
