Danielle is right. Its VE Day. Its also my daughters 11th birthday and she is really proud of being born on VE day. Big celebrations here for it, local scouts and guides have a parade and there are street parties planned. I think its wonderful. Its important not to forget and to try and learn from those days

Yep, V-E Day...

My Dad did 16 months infantry combat in the 7th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Infantry Division. Casablanca, Oran, Naples, Anzio, Cisterna, Rome, Montelimar, Vosges, overran the Dachau concentration camp, took Nurnberg, Munchen, Salzburg, Berchtesgaden and Hitler's Berghof at Obersalzberg.

Another interesting piece of history....

May 8, 1886....

The first Coca Cola was sold in Atlanta, Georgia...at a drug store.

Certainly not as memorable as VE Day....but historical for sure.

Thanks Svenn.

I didn't know the date. I should.

When is your anniversary Svenn? It's soon, I know. Is it 20 or 25? I remember nothing.  ::)

I think it's nice to celebrate this VE day, but .....

My Dad just went overseas and won the war "single handed" and came home. He was a modest man.... Well, at least that's the stories I was brought up on. Them darn tanks saved the world.  ::)  Eisenhower and Bradly and all those guys were just for show to hear the talk at the coffee shop when I was a kid (and even after I grew up).

But seriously, it was a Great Generation.

Hugs BD
