Its also my daughters 11th birthday and she is really proud of being born on VE day. Big celebrations here for it, local scouts and guides have a parade and there are street parties planned. I think its wonderful. Its important not to forget and to try and learn from those days |

Title: Re: Anyone know what day it is tomorrow? "NOT Post by BarbaraD on May 8th, 2005, 12:49pm I think it's nice to celebrate this VE day, but ..... My Dad just went overseas and won the war "single handed" and came home. He was a modest man.... Well, at least that's the stories I was brought up on. Them darn tanks saved the world. ::) Eisenhower and Bradly and all those guys were just for show to hear the talk at the coffee shop when I was a kid (and even after I grew up). But seriously, it was a Great Generation. Hugs BD |
