Title: new truck sucks Post by Karla on May 3rd, 2005, 9:22am We got a new truck 1 month and 3 days ago. We just started hearing a knocking/ticking sound in the engine the last couple of days. We have no idea if it is under warenty or not. I am praying it is. It is a 2002 S10. Seems like rule of my house lately with all our cars is if it can go wrong it will go wrong. UG! |

We've gone through the used car blues for the last ten years and we finally broke down and spent way more than we should have for a new SUV just so we could have a warranty. I hope that what ever is going on with yours is covered. Paying for auto repairs sucks. |

OH NO!!!!!!!! NOT THE SPEAKERS!?!!?!?!?!?! Now, you're going to have to sing to yourself..... Real loud. I can't listen to music when I drive. I get in to the music to much and run into people. I really did that on Lake Shore Drive in Chicago after work one day. |

I know you have checked the oil, right? A few things that can cause ticking from inside the engine are low oil, low oil pressure, lifters out of adjustment or a collapsed lifter. There are other things. These are probably the easiest and cheapest to fix. |

Title: Re: new truck sucks Post by Drk^Angel on May 3rd, 2005, 10:36am Sometimes when your vehicle is in desparate need of an oil change it can cause low oil pressure, which as Gator said can cause tapping. Does it tap all the time, or does it go away after a bit when the engine has a chance to warm up? Bad thing is, a mechanic would probably be able to figure out the problem pretty quickly, but they're likely to just claim it's something real bad, and charge way too much to "fix" it.
