Title: Ok I'm missin the whatchya listenin to threads....
Post by taraann on Apr 24th, 2005, 1:34pm
My song obsession of the week is

Welcome To My Life by Simple Plan
Do you ever feel like breaking down?
Do you ever feel out of place?
Like somehow you just don't belong
And no one understands you

Do you ever wanna run away?
Do you lock yourself in your room?
With the radio on turned up so loud
And no one hears you screaming

No you don't know what it's like
When nothing feels alright
You don't know what it's like
To be like me...

To be hurt, to feel lost
To be left out in the dark
To be kicked when you're down
To feel like you've been pushed around
To be on the edge of breaking down
And no one's there to save you
No you don't know what it's like
Welcome to my life

Do you wanna be somebody else?
Are you sick of feeling so left out?
Are you desperate to find something more
Before your life is over?

Are you stuck inside a world you hate?
Are you sick of everyone around?
With the big fake smiles and stupid lies
While deep inside your bleeding

No you don't know what it's like
When nothing feels alright
You don't know what it's like
To be like me...

To be hurt, to feel lost
To be left out in the dark
To be kicked when you're down
To feel like you've been pushed around
To be on the edge of breaking down
And no one's there to save you
No you don't know what it's like
Welcome to my life

No one ever lied straight to your face
No one ever stabbed you in the back
You might think I'm happy
But I'm not gonna be ok
Everybody always gave you what you wanted
You never had to work
It was always there
You don't know what it's like
What it's like

To be hurt, to feel lost
To be left out in the dark
To be kicked when you're down
To feel like you've been pushed around
To be on the edge of breaking down
And no one's there to save you
No you don't know what it's like

To be hurt, to feel lost
To be left out in the dark
To be kicked when you're down
To feel like you've been pushed around
To be on the edge of breaking down
And no one's there to save you
No you don't know what it's like
Welcome to my life
Welcome to my life

I havent listened to Maria Carey in FOREVER..... that's what I love about everyone posting what they are listening to.  reminds me of songs I want to hear so I can d/l them.

Good tune David lol

[Trick Daddy and Cee-Lo]
Uh huh, yeah
Yeah, ha
Oh man, I got a sweet tooth, can you dig it
After this one you gonna need a root canal
Hehe
I love sugar, oh man
This one for all the nice, clean, decent women
Lay it on me, girl
Pay close attention

She put that sugar (ooh), on my tongue (ooh)
She's gonna (ooh), gimme gimme some sugar (ooh)
Put it right there on my tongue (sweet sweet, lover lover)
Oh, right there on my tongue (she turns me on, like no other)

[Trick Daddy]
Gimme some of your butter pecan
Put it right there, on the tip of my tongue
Hold it, right yeah, cause baby, if I bite ya, I bet ya like it
French Vanilla is a helluva flava for me
With strawberries, two cherries and whipped cream
The best dreams are the wet dreams
And the rest is just a flick without a sex scene
Orderly, I speak the truth
Cause the blacker the berry, the sweeter the juice
Cause Florida oranges and Georgia peaches
When they nice and ripe, they the best for eatin'
All southern boys be cravin' for pores
An old slice of pie after they main course
What they game for, I came for
I gotta thang for you that I can't ignore

She put that sugar (ooh), on my tongue (ooh)
She's gonna (ooh), gimme gimme some sugar (ooh)
Put it right there on my tongue (sweet sweet, lover lover)
Oh, right there on my tongue (she turns me on, like no other)

She put that sugar (ooh), on my tongue (ooh)
She's gonna (ooh), gimme gimme some sugar (ooh)
Put it right there on my tongue (sweet sweet, lover lover)
Oh, right there on my tongue (she turns me on, like no other)

[Ludacris]
She put that sugar on my tongue, tongue
Yippie yippie yum yum
Goodie goodie gum drop, put me in a tongue lock
Did it till my body went numb, numb
Laid her on her back, back
Turn around, gave her bottom a smack, smack
She's the woman from the block with the best of weave
But I won't stop till I'm pullin' out tracks, tracks
It was lust at first sight
And she couldn’t help sayin' that she wanted to get with me
And my size was just right
Plus, she wanted a man with a little security
Said, I been around the world twice
And my name ring bells from Atlanta to Sicily
Said she want it all night
Put the bubbles in the tub and Ludacris in me

She put that sugar (ooh), on my tongue (ooh)
She's gonna (ooh), gimme gimme some sugar (ooh)
Put it right there on my tongue (sweet sweet, lover lover)
Oh, right there on my tongue (she turns me on, like no other)

She put that sugar (ooh), on my tongue (ooh)
She's gonna (ooh), gimme gimme some sugar (ooh)
Put it right there on my tongue (sweet sweet, lover lover)
Oh, right there on my tongue (she turns me on, like no other)

[Trick Daddy]
Sweetie, you look so incredible
So delicious, and so damn edible
All I need is some honey and syrup
And a little butter to rub down all your curves
And no need for the lemonade
Just a twist of lime and some grape Kool-aid
Can I call you caramel
Cause I'm 'bout to go coo-coo to test your Cocoa Puffs
One bowl oughtta fill me up, but the milk got to be cold enough
Suppertime ought of hold me up
I'm 'bout to choke this up if I don't slow it up, but
Honey, you look like a honey dew
Eat strawberries with a whipped cream filling
Top baller with the peach cobbler
But a fruit platter might outta do me betta

She put that sugar (ooh), on my tongue (ooh)
She's gonna (ooh), gimme gimme some sugar (ooh)
Put it right there on my tongue (sweet sweet, lover lover)
Oh, right there on my tongue (she turns me on, like no other)

She put that sugar (ooh), on my tongue (ooh)
She's gonna (ooh), gimme gimme some sugar (ooh)

This is the song that doesn't end,
Yes it goes on and on my friend!
Some people started singing it,
Not knowing what it was.
And they'll continue singing it forever,
Just because.....

By the way, I downloaded that Simple Plan song! I'm going to listen to it soon... :)

OK so I had a different list even as of this morning, but I was just getting ready for clinical.  Today is the first day I will get to see my former boss from ER registration since her last chemo treatment for breast cancer.  In light of that, I made her a CD (she absolutely LOVES gospel music which is a major part of the music sung by my old choir at Penn State) and got her a card.  Here's the track list from the CD (forgive me for not having composers or any of that!)

1. Can I Lay in Your Arms?
2. Seasons
3. Lord How Excellent
4. Don't Cry
5. For Every Mountain
6. Amazing Grace
7. There is a Balm in Gilead
8. Come Before His Presence
9. The Highest Praise
10. Holy Thou Art God
11. You're Not Alone
12. I Love the Lord
13. The Twenty-Third Psalm
14. Everything That Hath Breath

Hopefully it'll bring her comfort.  The stuff in this cd is in part the reason why I get up every morning and try again!  :)

Hugz,
Lizzie :)

Katy Rose
after all the teeny bobbers that are in the top 40 - I actually like her music. Besides she actually know how to play instruments.  Amazing a singer that knows how to read music and writes her own stuff

Snowflakes

I only wish for snow to fall
On the palm trees in the dirt
But here the sun will always shine (It'll always shine)
Even if with the clouds it flirts

For Shngri-LA is always dry
It doesn't cry  like me
In Hell-LA the sun is always there ( it's always there)
Scalding the deep green sea

I'll never be a snowflake
and waltz to earth so gently
To form a perfect blanket
For someone else to walk on

I've lost my mind in wanderlust
my heart cannot be found
My body yearns for the warmth of snow
but the sun keep pouring down
These streets have signs that point somewhere
but there I don't belong
And there's no more use
To curl your hair
When your innocence is gone

I only wish for snow to fall
On the palm trees in the dirt
But here the sun will always shine ( always shine)
Even if with clouds it flirts

I'll never be a snowflake
and waltz to earth so gently
To form a perfect blanket
For someone else to walk on

Lizzie,
I must admit that I don't know that much gospel music, but I love one song: In Christ Alone by Brian Littrell. Well, he sings it... Have you heard it? If not, check it out:

Best wishes,

p.s. I hope that your former boss will beat the cancer! :)
After losing my dad it has always been sad to hear about someone who's suffering from it.

As far as gospel songs go, the abovery *friendly* persone two best I have ever heard are Elvis's verison of "How Great thou Art" and "You'll Never Walk Alone".  The power and conviction in those two songs is incredible.

Wierd mix as of late...
Fits my wierd mood as of late...

NINE INCH NAILS - WITH TEETH (all I can say is, on May 3rd, everyone will freak on this disc when it releases. The song "Getting Smaller" just kills! )

Linkin Park - Meteora
Tim McGraw - Live Like You Were Dying
Jeff Buckley - Grace
Live - Throwing Copper
XTC - Best of: Lemons and Oranges
Staind - Break The Cycle
Phil Keaggy - The Wind and The Wheat
The Cult - Love
Velvet Revolver - Contraband
ELO - Out of the Blue
Andreas Vollenweider - Down To The Moon
Madonna - Ray of Light (shut up Jonny)  ;;D
New Weezer tracks from the impending forthcoming disc.

Right now giving the classic Queensryche Disc "Rage For Order" a revolution in the player before bedtime. HA! Sleep. WTF is THAT?

Throwing Copper may be their best disc, but nothing shakes me or makes me bawl like the 9/11 remix of the song "Overcome" by Live. The passion of Ed's voice, the melancholy piano intertwined with sound bytes from 9/11 - just shakes my souls core.

Right now though, nothing shares my angst quite like the new NIN song "Getting Smaller."

"I'm just a face in the crowd. Nothing to worry about. Not even trying to stand out. I'm getting smaller and smaller and smaller.
And I've got nothing to say. It's all been taken away. I just behave and obey. I'm afraid I'm starting to fade away!"

Trents musical genius, combined with the ferocious drumming of Dave Grohl (Nirvana, Foo Fighters, Queens of the Stone Age, etc.) makes this disc possibly better (dare I say it?) than 1994's "The Downward Spiral."

Rockin',
Carl D

NIN - is the only concert I've ever been to.  Back in 1993 or 94 I think.  It was awesome.  Downward Spiral and pretty Hate Machine (LOL) are the two I like the best by him.

The only album that I've liked by Live has been Throwing Copper........then again I don't think I've heard the song you're talking about. Now "Lightening Crashes" is my fave by them cause its so true in my life.  Every death there is a birth type thing.  My grandpa died right before my son was born and my mom died when I was pregnant with my daughter.  Both my kids are my angel babies, and I like to think a little of my grandpa is in my son and a little of my mom is in my daughter.
