Title: Car Accident
Post by Tiannia on Apr 22nd, 2005, 10:47am
Well I ended up in a car accident last night.  Was pulling out of my daughters day care (after picking her up) looked both way s and pulled out to make a left. Problem is that a guy who worked across the street decided to to the same thing at the exact same time and we met in the middle.  No one was hurt, but it rather sucked to have to get a car fixed that is less then a year old.   :-/

It does suck Tia sweetie but just remember, it is ONLY a car and the important thing is that you and your daughter are fine. Thats the important thing. Cars can be fixed! I'm just so glad you are both okay  [smiley=hug.gif]

Yes insurance. Must have here in Vegas.  But I actually have good coverage so it will only cost me $100 deductable.  We both got citations but he got a second one cause he told the cop that he was trying to pull into the middle yellow left turn lane and not make a full left turn. That got him busted for using the turn lane as a stoarge or merge lane, which it is not.  So it is on each of our insurances to pay for thier part.

Yes it could be loads worse.  Just frustrating.  I am glad that no one got hurt though.  That always scares me here. Cause so many people dont make thier kids buckel up and I am so afraid that someday a kid is really going to get hurt in a little fender bender.

That stinks, Tia...but at least everyone's OK. I've driven in Vegas traffic and I know it could have been a whole lot worse!!  Cars are replaceable, people are not.

I'm glad I try to kep a good habit of checking 2 or three times before and while backing out of places cuz I bout smacked into someone doin the same thing at the pet store not long ago. Both looked behind us and didn't see any movement and hard to see people in vehciles when all are pulled into spots facein different directions from you. So I double checked AS I was backin out and YIPES me and a van bout kissed each others asses. Glad no one was hurt Tia. So many more people out there....increases the odds. Observant Pam

Tia,

Yes as others have said, it is just a car, but it still sucks just the same!  Any car accident I've ever had - no matter how minor - always leaves me feeling depressed and feeling like crap!

Any idea how much damage was done?

I'm very glad to hear that you and your daughter are okay.

As Charlie always says, It's about time for you to get a break!  Long overdue, sis!

Hugz,
Lizzie :)

I've gotten into the habit of not trusting anyone else to follow the rules, and give them more space.  Still didn't help much when a few weeks ago, I was driving through town.  A dumb not a very nice person walked right out in front of me to cross the street, then stopped in my lane to allow an oncoming car to go by.  I slammed on my brakes, locked the front wheels (anti-lock back brakes... Can someone please tell me the purpose of having anti-lock brakes on the back, but not the front?) and blared the horn, and the idiot never even looked at me.  I missed hitting him by no more than 6 inches.  I was close enough, that I couldn't even see his waist over the hood of my van.  After a second or two of me sitting there, blaring my horn, the oncoming car passed, and the idiot continued his trek to the bar.  Damn suicidal drunks...  How much ya want to bet that if I had hit him, they would've found a way to blame me?

Glad y'all didn't get hurt.  If I'd been in your shoes, I'd prolly been hoping that the other guy at least got some sense knocked into him.

PFDAN............................. Drk^Angel

Have to go today and get the appraisal.  So we will see.  Talked to my insurance co and the other guy got sited for lack of full attention and using the left turn lane as a storage / travel lane. So my insurance is going to go after the other insuance to get my deductable and such back. At least I have good insurance and my car will be fixed to matter what.  Only a $100 deductable is better then it could be.

Thanks everyone.  You all are nicer about it then my husband.  Got to hear a weekend of how stupid I was to not pay more attention.  I love him dearly but there are times when he is nothing but an not a very nice person.  (That is a side story, that I am dealing with.  :-/)

Will keep you all posted.

Tiannia;

I am so sorry that you were in a accident... but I am equally as happy that you and your daughter are both okay, as well as the occupants of the other vehicle..

Don't worry about the vehicle, just thank God that everyone is okay...

Peace & Blessings
Lady Luv
