Title: How much stress can you handle? Optical Illusion Post by Tiannia on Apr 21st, 2005, 12:22pm Check out this cool link: Stress Test (http://www.livejournal.com/users/jehannamama/35109.html#cutid1) (the link leads to a Live Journal...but check out the cool pictures!) I want to see what other people see before I put up what I saw. ::) |

Title: Re: How much stress can you handle? Post by purpleydog on Apr 21st, 2005, 12:33pm The flower prints pretty much stopped when I looked directly at them. When I looked at one side or another, the other end moved a little. The center print barely moved, while the last one just moved a little, like a slow wave. Nice illusion. |

Title: Re: How much stress can you handle? Post by Gator on Apr 21st, 2005, 12:37pm The flowers rotate slowly until I look directly at them, then they stop. The other two pics just kind of slowly undulate, as the guy says. Let me guess - the flowers were spinning like pinwheels for you? If this test has any validity at all, I hope not. |

Title: Re: How much stress can you handle? Post by Tiannia on Apr 21st, 2005, 12:56pm no - as long as I didnot look directly at them they moved slowly. But I could make any of it stop by looking at it. The last one was cool like it was on water, a slow wave. I love illusions and perception. Was one of my favorite classes in college for my major. Like do you see the old lady or the young lady. http://www.coolopticalillusions.com/illusions/youngladyoldlady.gif This is a great site of different ones. It is sort of neat to look at them all and look for what you see first. I know most of them so I see both, but I try very hard to not look for anything and just let my mind see it first and see which one I pick out automatically. http://www.coolopticalillusions.com/ |

Title: Re: How much stress can you handle? Optical Illusi Post by Frank_W on Apr 21st, 2005, 1:36pm They were all moving very slowly. When I took a few deep, slow breaths, as when meditating, they all slowed to a near stop. In the picture above, I saw the young woman, and then brought the crone into focus, and realized that I preferred to see the young woman. A fun and useful exercise in choosing one's perceptions, which in turn, determines one's reality. (Now, where'd that box of donuts go?) [smiley=laugh.gif] |

Title: Re: How much stress can you handle? Optical Illusi Post by high_commander on Apr 21st, 2005, 1:53pm Took a deep breath, stared at the screen and they didn't move....until I did. If I blinked or moved my head, then they seemed to wave a bit. But if it's linked to your ability to handle stress.... (I've had lots lately) (handling it ok I guess) Danielle |

Title: Re: How much stress can you handle? Optical Illusi Post by Lizzie2 on Apr 21st, 2005, 2:20pm I feel like it is a matter of concentration and controlling your eye muscles (of which there are several). Is that the scientist in me coming out? Stress????? What stress??? I'm not stressed!!!! [smiley=bash.gif] |

Title: Re: How much stress can you handle? Optical Illusi Post by Lizzie2 on Apr 21st, 2005, 2:43pm 5, but those things really disturb me! There was a study done at the headache center (not sure if it's completed yet or not) on the connection between stripes and other patterns and migraine triggers. It was interesting! For me, forget the migraine...it feels like a seizure trigger! LOL Anyways...as far as what I was typing, I meant to see if the others were moving or not. They may have moved if I just let my eyes float over them or whatnot, but as soon as I concentrated or could literally feel the accomodation in my eye (via ciliary bodies, etc)...then everything stopped moving. Science at its best ;) |

Optical Illusi Post by Mr. Happy on Apr 22nd, 2005, 1:18am Well......I don't know much about stress......but I'm sure as hell am saving these little visual escapades for the next Dosing at the Alter of Wotan. Should be good for an hour, at least. RJ PS: Five legs. Or a tongue like a foot shaped like a dikk. Or some damned thing. |
