Title: Could need some advice here
Post by Svenn on Apr 18th, 2005, 5:44am
Just started on week 11 painfree here, just feeling like a reborn in paradise again because of that BUT the lack of sleep and the fear of getting hit is a major problem now.

I;m just laying in bed waiting for "the general Cluster"to visit and he still stay away. :'( :'(

The last 5 days hardly more then 4-5 hours sleep. :(

I KNOW i should shut up complaining as i am PF compared to a lot of you brothers and sisters.Believe me when i say i strongly feel for you all out there struggling. :'( :'( :'(

Its just that i feel this as a big problem for myself,so i will apreciate any advice how to deal with that

Very Best from

Svenn

Svenn - Enjoy your PF time -- I'm out of cycle and off all meds and I still wonder sometimes when I go to bed if the beast will re-visit ... BUT ... you can't let anticipation of what has not occurred to keep you from getting sleep.   Sleep deprivation is ugly ...  While you're PF... just live !!  Tommorow is another day and if you wake up PF.... good for you.  If you wake up with a CH, I presume you are well armed and ready to do battle with the beast !!!   We all done the dance at some point and I suspect we will all dance again.   Should it come about that you have another CH, being rested certainly helps in how well you tolerate and overcome our beloved beast.

My hope is continued PF time for you and just remember we've all been in that anticipation mode and know what it feels like.  You'll be fine ... bottom line is you cannot let this thing rule you, although there is no cure for any of us -- we have the hope that one day there will be.  If a CH will happen, it will happen -- no point in worrying about that which you cannot control (with the exception of meds)  ;;D

So live like a wildman in your PF time !!

T.

Svenn you are TOO cute !!!!!!!!!!

Listen -  if you think about the BEAST when he's away.... he still wins!

Dont let him win - enjoy your PF time... and dont worry about the next hit.  You may never get one!

I did hear someone say that you may outgrow them when you get older.   and LOOK how OLD you are!!!!!!!

Svenn, I’ve always described the fear of clusters like you would fear an unseen monster waiting to pounce on you.  You don’t sleep, there is no peace, so I understand.  And if this is how you’ve lived for a long time, it’s going to take some time to get over that fear and anxiety, but the point here is that you have to get over that fear, day by day – it has to be an actual act of your will…YOU OWE IT TO YOURSELF TO DO THAT.  Definitely enjoy your PF time!!!  And once the fear decreases, your mind will be more at peace and you can get more sleep…how much remains to be seen though…lol…us clusterheads are known for our wacky sleep patterns thanks to CH.

Some people take natural herbs like kava kava or valerian root to help with sleep during PF time…make sure you look further into these to see if they’re good for YOU before taking them though.

Congratulations by the way on your PF Time… ;;D

11 PF weeks ... the first step.
Try some natural tranquillizer (? sedative?) tea, melatonine, or - if your doc prescribe it - some ligth tranquillizer med or sleeping pill.

My words exactly!

Enjoy your PF time to the max!

One of my fave quotes is:
"Live life to the fullest for the future is a scarce"
and I think it applies here.

Think that you've had your last CH day and live like that. I'm having a PF day today myself and I'm doing presicely that.

What comes to the lack of sleep... well, join the club. Melatonin helps lot of folkes, my pal the insomniac eats bananas and claims that it helps. But I'm not sure about that.

Best wishes,
Sandie

Svenn,

You are a very strong-minded man.  How dare you let the beast control you when he ISN'T knocking at your door !!!!!!!   Now.   Go to sleep and have pleasant dreams.

Guess I have gotten used to "waiting for the other shoe to drop".

Enjoying the PF time means just that.....ENJOY IT. Don't let the fear of the beast hound you like the beast it's self. Personally, I do my dead level best to forget I have CH when I'm PF.

Well let me see now, perhaps if you decided to send me a

        REAL LOOOOOooooooooooooooooooooong email...

you'd get tired enough to sleep well!!!        ;;D ;;D ;;D

I understand where you're coming from ole pal. And, I know it's tough. Can't say I know any cure for that one, except for you to live it up all you can.

So........GET OFF YOUR ASS

Get outside, RUN.........do something................LMAO

THEN, you'll be a little more tired and perhaps a little more sleepy that you won't "think" of sleep approaching it'll just happen.

I'm there with you, and hoping you remain PF for a very long time, EVEN if it's means no sleep still. Think that would be a good compromise.

MEANWHILE.....

EMAIL ME!!!!!!!!

love you lots,
EDNA          :) :-*

I'm so happy for your PF time - enjoy!!!

Meanwhile, get some exercise during the day and take some Melatonin at night for awhile if you need it.

When my cycle is over it takes a number of weeks for my sleep habits to get back to normal.  I keep taking the Melatonin, though in lower doses than when in cycle.  It really does help.

Happy dance for you!

Kris
