One of my favorite places to go down a six pack with my buddy was actually *underneath* the Golden Gate, on the gangway that runs underneath the road. Back then, securiy was a joke for that area... today I suspect that kind of stunt would land you at Gitmo for an extended Q&A session. The view downward from underneath the bridge was spectacular, and you had to be a bit of a monkey to get to the actual walkway. After a sixpack, that could be interesting. We would get onto the bridge from the anchor on the Sausalito side, and sometimes we'd spend hours up there. It can be awe inspiring. I always wanted to climb the actual towers, but I know that's out of the question. Would be awesome to do it though. -Fu |
