Title: Just when you think things can't get worse... Post by LeLimey on Apr 14th, 2005, 6:43am I was in Grantham shopping earlier in the week, well.. I'd gone in to go shopping when I got hit so I pulled into a car park and got on the o2. I hadn't gone and paid for a car parking ticket.. what a heinous crime huh? As I was sitting there, trying to breath, rocking and generally looking like a mad woman I had a parking violation ticket stuck on my wondscreen! I couldn't believe it. I was sitting in the drivers seat with an O2 cylinder beside me so I wasn't invisible! I was shocked and I know I sound like the worlds greatest wimp but I was so upset by his callousness that I cried all the way home once I was finally in a fit state to drive again. I can't believe people can be so downright mean. I intend writing a stinking letter when I pay it too. Grrr! Ever wonder how some people sleep at night??? Has anyone else ever had anything like this? |

Title: Re: Just when you think things can't get worse... Post by clarence on Apr 14th, 2005, 8:33am It seems like the parking wardens in the UK are mean everywhere. When I lived in Edinburgh I parked a rental car in front of my flat for less than 5 minutes as I went up the four flights of stairs to retreive my elderly and disabled grandmother who was visiting. When I got back, I had a ticket, even though it was a loading/unloading zone. I wrote a letter of appeal, but was told that I had to pay the money. What a joke. Even so, I can't believe that they gave you a ticket as you were sitting ther having a medical emergency. If you were rocking back and forth like a mad woman, sucking on an o2 cyliner, you might think that the warden would ask if you needed help or something, instead of writing you up a ticket. Lame. Title: Re: Just when you think things can't get worse... Post by ExplodingEyeBall on Apr 14th, 2005, 9:08am You should see the parking wardens in Chicago. They will stand inside the foyer of a building with binoculars and a two way radio and wait. I warned someone one time that they would get towed for parking where they did. They told me they would only be a minute and kept going. As soon as they walked in the door of the store they were visiting, a tow truck turned the corner and had the car hooked in less than a minute. That does suck that they ticketed you while you were in the car suffering. |

Title: Re: Just when you think things can't get worse... Post by LadyLuv on Apr 14th, 2005, 11:56am Now that's heartless :-/ and your tears :'( were justified.. Most sensible people would have assumed that you were in a medical emergency; seeing the o2 cyclinder, you rocking and looking like a mad woman should have caused for her to seek assistant for you, rather than punishment for you being sick. But like here in the States, they've got to meet their quota, and some of them don't care how or from whom. I am so sorry that this happened to you.. Lady Luv |

Title: Re: Just when you think things can't get worse... Post by Lizzie2 on Apr 14th, 2005, 12:41pm They have a parking ticket quota? Is that grouped in with the speeding violation quota? My roommate's dad is a state trooper, and I know they have A quota, but I thought it was just for nailing people doing 85 mph down the PA turnpike. PA is known for its state troopers! I got only one speeding ticket ever..that was not a pleasant experience! As far as parking tickets, I've gotten quite a few. Get this, once I parked in a handicapped space -- perfectly legit because I AM handicapped -- I forgot to hang up the placard and got slammed with a $50 fine. What's more is that I didn't take my placard and the ticket to the parking office to clear up the matter...I paid it! There are more stories where those come from...ugh... Hugz Helen!!! What a jerk they were for doing that!!! Maybe most Philly police would still give the ticket, but the majority of them are gonna call fire rescue or take you to the ER themselves first. We have people brought in by the police or fire rescue all the time! Lizzie :) |

I got hit with a 10 in a restaurant several months ago. I went to the restroom where I proceeded to pound my head, etc. A woman comes in and asks if I'm all right and I managed to say yes...but just leave me alone I'm having a very bad headache. Well she goes and calls the Police thinking I must be "ON" something. Afterwards, I go out to the table and the police are walking in the front door. Thank God my husband Jim got up and explained it all to them. Even handed them an OUCH brochure. Linda |

Title: Re: Just when you think things can't get worse... Post by cootie on Apr 14th, 2005, 10:39pm We got a speeding ticket leaveing a big camp out party in summer.....we were really tired and didn't get much sleep at all and couldn't wait to get home and crash somewhere QUIET......the place is way out in the boonies too not that far from home. They had CHANGED the speed limit thru the area and we've lived out here a long long time. The cop pulled us over and asked where were were going so fast (all I could do is HOPE Brad didn't say we were late for church)....the cop acted like we were goin to start sumthing and was a real wise guy. I think he was pickin on the party people.....we didn't want to argue or spend much time with the guy cuz we prolly still stunk of beer and cigs from the party. Brad got a BIG OLE FINE too. When cops go RAD Pam |

Title: Re: Just when you think things can't get worse... Post by bigAl on Apr 15th, 2005, 2:26am LeLimey, It's time to get out your parking warden voodoo doll and a nice red hot steel poker. >:( On second thought, should we wish this on our worst enemies? :( What the hell. They could use a taste of what we have lived with daily. Perhaps just a five minute primer. ;) |
