Last Thursday at about a lunch time, I get a call from my wife.

NIPSCO (The local electric monopoly) shut us off. I hurry home to find 4 inches of water in my basement already.

My neighbor let me run an extension cord to my sump pump. (Thanks)

I call NIPSCO and tell them my wife paid the bill at 7:30 A.M.

Sorry, but theres nothing we can do about that now, By the way, you now have to pay a re-connect fee and... Oh yeah..There's the $600.00 deposit.

So.. Long story short, I spent 2 days at home in the dark waiting for these jerks to turn our power back on.

All this right when I'm starting a cycle. AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!

I was ready to strangle someone!!!!!!!

I still am.

Someone, please give me the secret to cold fusion so I can put these bastards out of business.

NIPSCO - I used to live in Laporte county I remember them well :P electric and gas. I feel for you brother

That sucks so bad! Yeah the other day a knock on the door here. It's the electric company here to shut me off. I proceed to tell her we just paid almost $100 2 weeks ago. Well she says I'm here to do my "job" and either pay me $150 or I'm going to shut you off now. Grr had to dip into our closing money for the house!

I talked to one ot their supervisors on Friday. What a joke!!!

He tried giving me the story of "I just wanted to let you know that I understand what you are going through' speach.

I laughed out loud on the phone.

I told him "You are a supervisor for NIPSCO who makes as much or more every month than I make in a year. You have NEVER been shut off and you have NEVER had your service held hostage for a $600.00 deposit!!! You DON'T understand!!!"

I also told him that it must be nice to work for the last legal monopoly in the US because no other company would get away with treating their customers this way.

neo nazi's !!! Our propane co that delivers is worse......they want you to get on there route service....starts in April.....no other time.....if you ask you will get yelled at ! Problem with the route deal is if you are a few days LATE on payment or more they kick you off there route service and you are back to COD. I was late about 3 years ago cuz I owed em about $ 150.00 from chargeing a fillup (never did the route deal) and it got nice out and I jus 'let it go'.....my fault but shit I beenw with em for over 10 years so didn't worry too much and we got MAJOR busy round here. So I got a certified letter a few years back that cuz I was over 30 days on a balance I had to pay COD for all my propane or I got NONE. Then they double the price as always in Feb.......about $ 700.00 cash ! Now there talkin bout increases on gas ect to go sky high and you know propane ect will jump on the band wagon. Am worried what it mite run next winter.....could be double the double. I hate there route rules....I forget to be timely at times....and hate to have nuther MONTHLY bill figured in the buget to pay or else !! Insruence co will NOT permit a woodburner. Has to be inspected and top notch updated materials and chimmney. No block like we paid the brother in law to do and do badly....no brick or single pipe. They said the wall insert has to be SPECIAL or they will NOT pass it and sudgested triple wall pipe but our chimney is JUNK family built and needs tore down. If we put a woodburner in anyhow and anything happen's we will NOT be cover'd period they said. Fuckein people fuckin pis me fuckin off Pam

Sorry to hear your misfortune with NIPSCO. That's where my brother-in-law works. Don't think he can do much for ya though EBE. They take the money and run. >:(

That sucks big time.

The city won't let them get away with that here.....because it's a city owned thing. They only buy a portion from Niagara-Mohawk. They give you lots of leeway here.

Better move. It's the cheapest power in New York State. Can't say that for most things here.

Good luck. Firebombing seems appropriate.
