Should Dom Perignon be served chilled?

Can't seem to find an answer when searching -- damn corporate firewalls.

Yes! All champagne should be served chilled  as should white wine. Red should be at room temp. Hope that helps!

PS.. is there something you should be telling us?!

Depends on the the year you can get bottles of it for under 90.00 if you are savy enough.  And yes chilled is the way to go.

Chilled definately!!!

The good thing about this stuff is that you can drink quite a bit without much of a hangover. (Like a hangover would have any affect on a CHer  ;;D ).

Last bottle I bought ran me about $130.00. Believe it or not, Sam's club has it most of the time.

edited cause I can't spell worth a shit today.  :-/

10th Anniversary.  Just picked up a bottle of 1996 for $125.00.  Needed to do phone shopping to find the cheaper price.  Started at $190.00.

Here's the plan:

Asked the little bride to ensure she was home by 5:30 and ready to leave at 6:30.  Wear something formal and don't ask questions.

<She went out and bought a new evening gown this weekend.  She showed me what it looks like and I know she's going to be drop dead gorgeous in it.>

Limo will pick us up at 6:30, enjoy a little Dom, cruise by a local lake that she loves to visit, present her with a 1.5 tcw three stone anniversary ring and head on to a five star resturant where we celebrated our 1st anniversary, eat some wild critter, cruise the plaza and return home.

And yes -- I've rented a Tux.

How much???? Where????

I can be pretty full of sh** some times and we go through that stuff pretty quick.

Sam's actually has some pretty good prices on meat too.

My little bride is one hell of a shopper.  It's prom time around the burbs and the speciality shops had all the new gowns coming in and last years models on the clearance rack.  Whereas, she is a size 4 - 6, depending on cut, she found a $380.00 gown -- on sale for -------

$30.00!!!

She bought two other $100+ gowns for $12.00 each.

The accessories for each is a similar story.  She got out of Dillards with three gowns and accessories for less than $125.00.

I know others have already told you chilled, but...it should be served chilled, but not ice-cold. The optimum temperature is 45 to 48 degrees. Anything above that is a crime.

Of course, James Bond liked it a bit colder:

"My dear girl, there are some things that just aren't done, such as drinking Dom Perignon '53 above the temperature of 38 degrees Fahrenheit. That's just as bad as listening to the Beatles without earmuffs!"

Madame Lilly Bollinger (of Bollinger Champagne house) had this to say about champagne: "I drink it when I'm happy and when I'm sad. Sometimes I drink it when I'm alone. When I have company I consider it obligatory. I trifle with it if I'm not hungry and drink it when I am. Otherwise I never touch it -- unless I'm thirsty."

Happy 10th! That's AWESOME! :)

In other words, any time is champpers time! ;)

Unless I miss my guess, you're talking about some kind of wine huh..... :o 8)

Sounds like good advice here and I have to agree; Nothing beats a good can of New Jersey vintage wine.

Quite a little party you have planned Echo. Will you marry me?

Just kidding -- I'm hoping I can get lucky when we get home --- maybe in the limo on the way home.  Naw -- Dom, food and being old will probably just put me to sleep.

Yes.... Dom does make a great aphrodisiac. I'm pretty sure I didn't spell that word right. Someone should make fun of me over it.
