Title: Gotta vent Post by Kim Y. on Apr 5th, 2005, 1:53pm I am stressed last night I found a note on my time card saying I have made to many med errors and I now have to watch a movie. I wasn't even aware that I was doing anything wrong. :o Not to mention that if they were only in our shoes taking care of 35-50 residents and expected to pass meds to at least 15 what do they expect. Sorry unloading on you again didn't intend for that just needed to vent. Just feeling sorry for myself. I feel as though I have been a bad nurse. I hate making mistakes. :'( Kim :-/ |

Everyone does make mistakes, Kim. Don't be too hard on yourself. However, having worked in a similar (profoundly developmentally delayed adults)enviornement and now facing putting my mother in a nursing home I DO expect that meds be properly administered. It's just plain scary to think that mistakes wouldn't be taken seriously. This is not to make you feel worse...just my [smiley=twocents.gif] |

Title: Re: Gotta vent Post by sandie99 on Apr 5th, 2005, 2:43pm Kim, the mistakes we make make us human. [smiley=hug.gif] I hate making errors as well, but I've learned not to stress too much about them - that's a lesson ch actually taught me. Don't beat yourself up, okay? :) Best wishes, Sandie |

Want a donut??? :D Sorry Kim…clusters, the constant pain associated with them, topped by meds can do that to ya…I’ve been known to make some doosies myself…my boss gives me the look “brain did not arrive with Maria today”… :-[ But in line with what Nani said, I’m glad errors with regard to medicine administration is being taken seriously. Better days are coming… Langa |

Which one? Do you get to choose? "Be Cool" was alright. I really want to see "Sin City." On DVD I really like "Magnolia" and "Memento." "Amelie" is a really good flick. ;) just kidding... ;) Sorry Kim, I hope that things go better for you soon. Cheer up, and we'll all be here for you. Unload anytime. Casey |

Title: Re: Gotta vent Post by Kim Y. on Apr 6th, 2005, 12:11am Wow thanks for the pick me up tonight it is nice to get good feed back. Update on the med error it wasn't life threatening just a simple ear flush that was forgotten but it was also a failure on my CMA for not letting me know that it was the last time of the ear drops and on the 4th it is to be flushed. Over worked and under paid and under staff is definitly the problem. Not that I am making exuses for myself. I agree that if it were my mother in the nursing home I would want her to get the right meds but also being in there shoes I will understand if a mistake happens as long as it wasn't life threatening. I have always held myself accountable for my own mistakes. Feel better about this now. Thanks again. Kim |
