Speaking of 02, has anyone heard of an 85 pound tank?  Is that the size of a welder’s tank?  
I’ve been getting the 10 pound ones that empty too quickly…

The O2 link on the left went to the HSG site, which is now closed. DeeJ will surely get the O2 link reset when he gets a chance, most assuredly. The same O2 page is listed at:

Only place I've heard tanks referred to by Pounds of O2 is by welders. All medical grade is listed by liters. Here's the list:

There should be an even larger tank listed ("H", I think) that holds a whole lot of O2, but the largest I've been able to get from my folks is the "M" tank (3500 liters.) That's the puppy I keep at home, and the "E" tanks are for travel/work/car emergencies.

Bigger is better.

I got an "H" tank last cycle. It's huge...enough to last a long long time. Not sure how much it holds, but if you've got room, i'd suggest getting one. It takes 3 men and a baby to carry it. Of course the medical supply guy lugs it in and sets it up for you.

No luck they won't give me one.  Just make due with the 10 L concentrator. :-/

Look in the Yellow pages under "oxygen" and try to find a different supplier.

Tanks are better than concentrators because tanks deliver 100% pure O2, concentrators don't.

The two most common O2 tanks are E tanks and H tanks.

E tanks are 4' high 7" diameter and hold 682 litres. At 10 lpm an E tank will last 53 minutes. They are portable on a small handtruck with wheels. If you're having E tanks delivered get about 4 at a time.

H tanks are 5' high 9" diameter and hold 6770 litres. At 10 lpm an H tank will last 10 hours. They weigh about 150 lbs and are delivered on a hand truck with wheels.

From my O2 supplier, E tanks cost $13 to refill and H tanks only cost $26 to refill even though they hold 10 times as much.

If you just want it for home use and don't need to carry it around, it's much better to get an H tank.

Thanks for the info Hap…since I couldn’t get a welder’s tank, I get my tanks through a respiratory assist place.  I called today for another refill, and I was told they have the 85lb tanks.  Then he said “I didn’t think of telling you because we only offer the bigger tanks to cluster headache sufferers”…I said “perhaps you might want to read my file…I AM a cluster headache sufferer”!  It never dawned on me to ask.  I just always thought you only get the big tanks at the welder’s place.  Live and learn.  Anyway, he’s calling me with a price for the bigger tank…he also said it’s the M size tank.  I do have a regulator that goes to 15 and the NRB mask already.  

Thanks again and this case, you’re right, bigger is better…

Just got back from my local NitWit O2 Medical supply shop. Somehow, in the last 6 months, they all caught a bad case of STUPID.
The biggest tank they had was an "N." 1700 liters. Shit.
No regulators over 8 lpm. Shit.
No bubblers. Shit
No masks. Shit.

Thank Wotan I have all my own crap to hook up, otherwise I'd be fucked. Proof positive that you can never be over prepared, over informed, and over stocked.
