Title: So What'cha Listening To THIS Week?
Post by PrettyH8Machine on Mar 30th, 2005, 6:43am
I have spent so much quality time with the 'phones on the last few days, my ears hurt from the plastic ear inserts. One album in particular has grabbed me by the balls the past week. It is a band called MUSE and the disc is "Absolution." I can describe it in one word: infuckingcredible!  It reminds me of a darker, heavier Radiohead. MUSE is a 3 piece band, and from what I'm told, a must-see band live. Other than that it has been:

Cold - Year of the Spider  (another great album!)
Ozzy Osbourne - Diary of A Madman (Randy Rhoads is GOD!)
The Verve Pipe - Villains
Killers - Hot Fuss
Scorpions - Lonesome Crow
Dead Kennedys - Frankenchrist
Korn - Issues
Korn - Take A Look Into The Mirror
Red Hot Chili Peppers - Freaky Styley
Mother Love Bone - Stardog Champion
Tim Curry - Best of
Rolling Stones - Sticky Fingers
Violent Femmes - 1st
O-Zone - compilation
David Bowie - Scary Monsters
Gwen Stephani - Love.Angel.Music.Baby
King Crimson - In The Court Of The Crimson King
KASABIAN - 1st
Tim McGraw - Live Like You Were Dying
Strata - 1st
Chevelle - This Type of Thinking Could Do Us In
Bauhaus - compilation
Black Flag - Whos Got The 10 1/2?

and one thing I have been spazzing on (who me?) is the 3 tracks I have from the new NINE INCH NAILS disc WITH TEETH that comes out May 5th. This could be the BEST NIN DISC EVER! Instead of programming the drums like he usually does, Trent enlisted Dave Grohl (Foo Fighters, Nirvana, QOTSA, etc.) to play the drums. Combining Dave's ferocious drumming with Trent's dark and forboding anger, this has to be the most rocking and in your face stuff from NIN ever!

Although it's a far reach different from what I usually listen to, I have been listening to the new Scissor Sisters CD my wife bought me.

I didn't think I'd like it at first but this is a very diverse band with some incredible musicians in it who do a very wide variety of music.

Look for some of their other songs (demos) like Electrobix  and  Backwoods Discoteque  interesting stuff.
They were incredible live! Very entertaining both musically and visually. The first and last track on the CD, "Laura" and "Return To Oz" are incredible songs.

This MUSE disc is very good too. Intricate writing, and songs that are heavy and dark, to beautiful and dreamy. Probably the most impressive 3 piece since Rush.

I saw Dream Theater in concert a few months ago with Yes. One of the best concerts I have ever been to.
