Title: Fingers Crossed! Post by Lizzie2 on Mar 28th, 2005, 11:24pm I just signed and sealed an application to become a Trainee Member of the American Headache Society. I had to get a letter providing evidence that I'm currently a student. There's just a couple of questions in my mind that will remain unresolved until I get accepted or not! One is that my graduation date as stated by TJU is May, 2005. That's pretty soon to be applying as a student member! Although, it doesn't say it on my letter from TJU, I will be continuing on with the College of Graduate Studies in September (yes...I'm a masochist!) The only other thing is that the way they word Trainee Member, it sort of makes it sound like they only want med students, etc. Registered Nurses can't be full members - only associate members, so I'm hoping that they'll take a nursing student as a trainee member! Only time will tell... The AHS has an annual symposium this year in Philadelphia at the end of June. I may be attending...with any luck! I am waiting to see what happens with the application, first! I want to enter my poster presentation for my honors project into conferences, but I think the deadline has probably passed to enter a poster into the symposium this June. However, it's not a time sensitive poster, so I can hang onto it and enter it into future conferences! The official title is: "More Than Just a Headache: Improving the quality of migraine and headache education for future nurses." So...keep your fingers crossed that they at least allow me to be a member...because that's the first step! Then I would also start receiving the journal "Headache" (of which we've seen many abstracts posted here!) and have a reduced fee into the conference. Even if I don't get accepted as a Trainee member, I may try to go to the conference anyways depending on a few things...but that's to be decided! Just thought I'd give an update on some of the work I've been doing for the headache world....in all my free time. ;) Hugz, Lizzie :) |
