Title: Betty Flopper (nuther digressive thread)
Post by cootie on Mar 28th, 2005, 10:35pm
Anybody ever bake sumthin and screw it up BAD....what do ya do ? I  got creative tryin ta make a cake with raspberry jam type center and white choc butter frosting. I kinda got carried away with the jam stuff and made TOOOOO much cuz of usein a different size pan. Put the frostin on while the cake was a wee bit too warm, it started to liquidate and run all over and mix with the jam stuff that also began oooozeing out like crazy all over the plate and counter suddenly and was all over me and the BIG knife I was usein. Brad walked thru the room behind me and heard him stop for second while I was soppin up the jam stuff and holdin that big jammy knife.....heard him shuffle off kinda fast. Man with all that jam stuff and mess it looked like a slaughter'd ground hog on the counter. I stuck it in the fridge after I brought it back to life. Needless to say Brad didn't want any cake before he went to bed. Crime scene Pam

Hope he doesn't have nitemares.....maybe I shoulda ditched it fast but it actually is pretty good. Looks ain't everything are they ???  ;;D

ROTFLMAO Pammie. You should have held the knife, slowly turned around and said..."Are you going to sleep already...bwahahaha."

Pammy, that's just Brad's way of saying   ::) "That's my gal, she sure puts the icing on the cake!  He's just playing hard to get, and will eventually admit heartfeltly that you are the one that really wears the lampshade around the house.  Guys are special that way.

The best cooks get into a messy jam.  Just ask Martha.

You're just too sweet Pamajama.

Pammikins....I love your stories lol.
I think Brad is a smart man.  He was probably thinking, lemme get the hell outta here before she asks 'It's not toooo bad is it?' and then he'd be trying to figure out what to say before you ask him to try it.  I think my imagination is runnin wild now but I've been there ;;D
Picky Pepper say hi to Brad, don't get jam in the beard.

Edited to say, Pammy, I think he'll love your jammy stuff [smiley=bloos.gif]

Yup, been there done that.  I baked a cake for my son's 16th birthday.  I had some left over writing frosting (in the tubes) from a previous cake so I decided to use the old before opening the new.  I kneaded the tube and sampled a small bit on a napkin.  It seemed to work ok.  Halfway through the first letter, the plug cleared and liquid red flowed across a white frosted cake.  It looked like I had killed someone and the blood got all over the cake.  I was able to repair the damage.  None of his guests seemed to notice the repairs.

I've also done the "frosted a too warm cake" thing before.  You live and learn.

We had some leftover salmon, and Mari was making lasagne one night. On a whim, she tossed the salmon in there. In thirteen years of eating her cooking, this was the one thing that I just found impossible to eat. She tried it and agreed with me. LOL

I was making chocolate rum balls with walnuts, and mixing everything up. Use your imagination to conjure the image of what it looked like.  [smiley=laugh.gif] (They were tasty, though!)

I used to make cakes for special occasions, including wedding cakes.  Once, I made a cake for a baby shower, which was tall as it was supposed to resemble a baby block, you know with the letters??  Anyway, it was huge as it was to feed 150 people.  The problem was I forgot to insert the rods to keep the whole cake together…So the lady comes to pick up the cake-she insisted on it.  Big mistake.  The cake got to the hall okay, but when she went to lift it to place on the table the whole thing collapsed – on her.  She arrived about 45 minutes later covered in cake, frosting and filling.  She looked like she was bathed in it.  She even had cake in her hair…it was awful.  I looked at her and started laughing, probably from nerves  :-/…She was furious!

Needless to say she got her money back and I never made that mistake again…

Been there done that. I still have no idea WTF I cooked up for cookies last year. Not something you'd enjoy as cookie dough either
