Title: Indulge me for a moment... Post by nani on Mar 28th, 2005, 9:23pm ...while I brag about my kids. I had to take both my grandkids in for strep cultures today. Mooshie had no school and we had to get her brother Jobo out of school early. He goes to school 30 miles away. On the freeway I'm listening to moosh makes all these funny sounds. Pa, pay, pee, poo, sa, shay, she, soo. I'm thinking...What the hell is she doing? I look over and she is intently studying her uncle's (my oldest son's) college Japanese textbook. She has a paper and pencil and is diligently writing kanji (sp?) -Japanese charachters, and pronouncing basic Japanese language sounds. I ask her what she's doing and she says..."I'm teaching myself to speak Japanese." I wanted to laugh at first, but she's really doing pretty well. If anyone could pull this off...it's my moosh. :) We get to Jobo's school and he hands me a letter. It's from the United States Academic Achievement Academy. He was nominated by one of his teachers for inclusion in the All American Scholar Program, where he's eligible to be awarded grants and scholarships. He'll be included in the yearbook this year. At first I thought...oh sure, I'll have to buy the book. But I don't. I can buy it (and probably will LOL) but he's in as soon as I sign the permission form. I didn't even think he was that good a student. Damn...these kids are amazing!! I only wish I had something to do with it! ;;D Thank you for listening. |

Title: Re: Indulge me for a moment... Post by Tiannia on Mar 29th, 2005, 7:12pm Nani that is great. EDIT to add that BobG is right hun. You are a HUGE influence on them. My kids amaze me. My daughter is smart as hell as long as she is not bored. She CAN get straight a's but usually doesn't because she just does not borther to turn in the homework that we do every night. Then she gets an award for being "Most Dramatic" ::) My sons (age 2) has a new teacher. The old one says. "OK you can not talk to Cameron like he is 2. You have to talk to him like he is an old man. If he acts like he does not know what you are talking about he is lying and just ignoring you." Got that sounds a lot like Don. ;;D |
