Title: Party at DD's for PD on April 2nd Post by Donna_D. on Mar 7th, 2005, 11:32pm Purpleydog aka PD aka Chris will be in Dallas on April 2nd. I FINALLY get to meet my SIS!! I would like to have a get together for anyone who wants to attend on that Saturday night. She is a very special person to me and I want to give her a Texas Welcome. I am going to make some of my famous Chicken Enchiladas, rice and beans, chips and hotsauce with all the appropriate Tex Mex fixin's.. Party starts at 6pm at the clubhouse here at my apartments, PM me for the information and the address. It is B.Y.O.Beverage of Choice....however I will have sodas and Ice tea for any non drinkers. Anyone and everyone who wants to come is WELCOME! Don't miss this chance to meet other clusterheads and eat some good food! I hope to see lots of you here April 2nd, 6pm...be there if you can!!! DD |

I'll post a pic of my room later. Got slammed majorly after dinner last night, for about 3 hours straight. Christ! Good thing the room is large, I was a pacing fool. I feel alright right this second though. The weather is beautiful, and I can't wait to get out in it a bit more. Back to work... training people is so much fun... ;;D See ya in awhile DD!! |

I stayed at DD's until 3:30 am, then drove to the hotel, got ready, packed and left for the airport. Not much traffic on the road, made it to the airport in no time. Donna, you are such a gracious host. And a great cook. :) I had the best time while I was there. You made me feel very welcome, like I was at home. I only hope I can return the kindness someday. I miss my friends already. After scrambling to get everthing "just right" the party appears to have been a success. Gator showed up early (thank GOD) and played "chef's assitant"....he really knows his way around the kitchen, folks. Without his help we would have been serving dinner way after dark! I was having a bad A.D.D. day and he managed to keep me focused and from cutting off all my fingers! Thank you, Mike. You really saved me mister! Mike if you have pictures of the food, post 'em LOL! Next party I'm thinking homemade lasagne...Mmmmmmmm! Matt, you better show up at the next party! Chris, my sister, I feel like I have known you all of my life. She knew before anyone when I was getting hit...it was like she sensed it. We ALL knew...and through the mild ones we were able to get up walk way, do our meds and come back and no one freaked out, conversations continued, and we all just UNDERSTOOD. Chris, you are such a beautiful person inside and out. I wish we could have spent more time together and NEXT time I will be better prepared. I PROMISE! There was so much we talked about and still more to go! Thank you so much for understanding about all the little minor setbacks that cut into our visit. I promise to make it up in July!! Chris set my computer up with a router so that in July anyone who comes here can use their own laptop!! Oh, Sis! The optical mouse works great! Thank you SO much!! Mik, as always, my buddy. He and Ginny brought the kids a "housewarming gift" Jessica got a "quillow" It is a quilt that fold up into a pillow and Justin received his favorite...books...about fire engines (The word Truck doesnt come out if his mouth quite right yet ;) . ) The wine was GREAT! You and Ginny feel free to stop by anytime, neighbor! The UFIA story still has me laughing!! We got phone calls from so many people! Svenn, LeLimey (Helen), Bill (NCRacer), KOP, Renee! It was so nice to hear all of your voices! We took turns passing around the phone and chatting! Chris had her laptop in the living room and relayed messages to EDub, Opus and Our missing sister Redd...Just WAIT til we get to convention sis! I didn't want Mik to leave last night but I think he was scared of the aftermath of eating Pagan Cake ;) so he had to go on home. Chris and Gator and I sat up and talked til the wee hours. Every now and again one of us got hit or a bad shadow. We talked and talked and then talked some more. It came time for Chris to go back to the hotel and I didn't want her to go...I admit it...I started tearing up. Hugs were exchanged, farewells were said and Chris left. I gave Mike some pillows and blankets and he settled into the couch almost immediately. I went on to bed and actually slept about 4 hours with no hit!! This morning we got up and went out to visit Renee. Mike and I (and Justin) drove out there and visited with Renee and Amy for a couple of hours and Mike and Renee got to finally meet!! Renee is doing alright since the surgery, just still in a lot of pain and the hard collar looks uncomfortable. Y'all be sure to drop her a line and send some vibes her way!! Mike had to get in his car and make that long drive back home. More pictures and hugs and farewells. I anticipated this weekend for so long and it was everything I had hoped for and more. I cant wait to do it again. I want to say a special thank you to my Cousin Beth and her husband Kenny. My head has been giving me fits really bad lately and without her help all through this week I would not have been able to put all of this together. Beth helped with cleaning, decorating and cooking as well as being my best supporter. She helps take care of me. And Kenny, well he kept my son occupied and off of the ceiling last night so that I could spend the precious time I had with my friends. Thank you Beth and Kenny! To all of you who were there thank you. You made me feel very special to have such wonderful friends as you! But.....Y'all could have TOLD me my cleavage was showing BEFORE you took the pics!! When onions are cooked "clear" and peppers are soft take the mixture spoon about a 1 1/2 tablespoons onto a WARM flour (or corn) tortilla (you can nuke them for a few seconds in the microwave to warm them just enough to keep them from breaking). ADD shredded cheese on top of the chicken and roll them up. Set them in a baking dish, sides touching until the dish is full, however don't "pack" too tight as you want the sauce to be able to run between them It is recommended that you put this together while the chicken and tortillas are still hot so that the cheese inside melts quickly and reduces overall baking time. In a pot combine: One can CONDENSED cream of mushroom soup (size depends on number of pans you are cooking the large family size can will make enough sauce for two rectangular cake pan size dishes.) One can CONDENSED cream of chicken soup 1 1/2 cups of sour cream 1/2-3/4 cup milk (use less milk if using the small can) Heat it thoroughly, but NOT boiling. Pour it (hot) over the rolled enchiladas using a spoon to fill in all the nooks and crannies. Cover with cheese (I use a three cheese finely shredded "mexican mix". Bake in the oven at 350 degrees for about 20 min or until the cheese is melted and the center is hot. Hope you enjoy and PM me for questions! It was about 4 1/2 hours each way for me and worth every minute of it. Y'all missed a good time. Those of you that cook, try DD's recipe. I have never eaten chicken enchilada's that tasted that good - period. One of the funnier things for me, besides the Pagan Cake (YUM!), was Helen (LeLimey) called and asked what I was doing. I told her I was shagging bowls and washing glasses and whatever else needed to be done. Well, Helen started laughing and I immediately realized what I had said. I had to explain to her that here, shagging bowls meant I was fetching, getting, retrieving, etc the bowls. To those who were there, don't worry - no bowls were actually "shagged" per the British definition of the word. Helen, thanks for calling and thanks for the laugh. I loved talking to you. I haven't downloaded the pics into my computer yet. Will do that later today. Since Chris is going to take care of the rest of the party pics, I'll just post the pics from Renee's house. Pagan Cake: The celebrants begin by removing all clothing. Shortly after that, you begin mixing the ingredients for the cake. This involves lots and lots of real butter. There are some special ingredients that cannot be revealed to the uninitiated. Otherwise, it's kind of like a yellow cake on steroids. As you can see from what little I've explained, I had to leave early. There are somethings that God just doesn't want you to see. And, you thought "thongs" were bad. |
