Title: Re: News flash Post by TxBasslady on Mar 7th, 2005, 1:12am LMAO.....not quite! 'Tis only a 4 wheel drive....used primarily to tow a bass boat. However......those brush guards you speak of ....we call those "cow keelers" in Texas. Funny thing is all I've ever seen anyone hit with those guards are deer! Jean |

Per acre I think we have as many if not more deer than any other state, they are changing the laws right now to thin the critters out, so I hear ya about the dear guards. A freind of mine ran over one last week $3500.00 damage and he had a guard. Jumped right out in front of him on a dirt road. He was stuck but his cell phone got out a wreker. Lee |

Title: Re: News flash Post by Mr. Happy on Mar 7th, 2005, 11:46am "Nationally, the white-tailed deer population has increased from about 500,000 in the early 1900s to 25 million to 30 million today" (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/6835501/) Rats with antlers. Those cute little deer are a vermin-like plague here, just a few miles west of Philly. Right now the deer population density is 65 deer per forested square mile at Ridley Creek State Park, estimated to be over 6 times the population before the Pilgrims landed. Every fall the road is littered with carcases. The PETA-philes are up in arms about the directed hunts aimed at reducing the overpopulation, in spite of the fact the deer are starving themselves to death. The $3,500 damage tag is minimal if you ask me. That's probably a grill and headlight lens these days. Slamming into a deer with a new little Rice Burner can easily cost $10,000 or more, if the occupants survive. I wish they tasted like chicken, RJ |

Title: Re: News flash Post by Frank_W on Mar 7th, 2005, 12:25pm Some lady backed right into me in the drive-thru, about a month ago. (why she suddenly threw it into reverse is beyond me....) My winch and a portion of my bumper disappeared into the plastic bumper of her SUV. The cops got there and she was assigned 100% fault. Damage to her SUV: Over a thousand dollars for a new rear bumper. Damage to my Jeep: A scratch in the bumper, which I remedied on the spot with a spraycan of black Krylon that I had behind the seat. The look on her face was priceless. [smiley=laugh.gif] Good stuff, Bill. Thanks! :) |

Title: Re: News flash Post by Hirvimaki on Mar 7th, 2005, 12:54pm I was rear-ended by a minivan [smiley=crackup.gif] in a merge lane. My first concern was, of course, my wife (this was pre- Kaisa-Tinúviel) and I walked around the front of the Jeep to check on her. After that I walked back to the minivan to see if they were ok and to view the damage (it was a pretty nasty jolt). All I could see from the passenger side was broken plastic strewn about and the side molding of the van lying on the road. I approached the back of the TJ with some fear, only to see...nothing. No crushed panels, no bent sheet metal, no broken anything. The minivan had not fared so well. The front grill was depressed in about two inches and the whole body seemed to have taken unkindly to the impact as the doors would not open. All the front lights were broken. (The driver was OK.) I guess hitting the spare tire, mounted on a custom tire mount which is directly mounted to the steel bumper which in turn is directly mounted to the frame, was not so healthy for the minivan. Damage to the minivan: $2800 (last I heard) Damage to the TJ: nada Hirvimaki-Isi |
