Title: Feeling VERY strange Post by jokrs2 on Mar 1st, 2005, 1:33pm Hi everyone. After 14 straight days of Imitrex with this run in with the beast I started the water x3 last night as pain was roaring up. Finally passed out sitting up last night about 2 am and woke at about 5 am with my 12 year old son asleep sitting next to me holding my hand :'(. He's one of my angels. I've been a stay at home dad for our 3 boys (2 are grown and on thier own). Feeling some relief this morning but also very strange and hazy...kind of like a high dose of elavil in the background but I'll take it. Anyone else notice this after a really bad run in with the beast. Sense of smell seems to be off as well...or perhaps I just need a shower ::). Hope you have a PFD. Blessings, Joe |

Title: Re: Feeling VERY strange Post by Frank_W on Mar 1st, 2005, 1:54pm Man, if you've been shootin' 'trex daily for two weeks, you are bound to feel a little odd. I'll just tell you: After doing it four times, last cycle, I'll never touch that stuff again. Rebound headaches, prolonged cycle, greatly intensified hits. No thanks. Good luck, and I hope you are getting some natural relief from this cycle, soon. Hang in there. -Frank |

Title: Re: Feeling VERY strange Post by jokrs2 on Mar 1st, 2005, 2:01pm Thanks Frank. I am taking the Imitrex tabs. I feel like I'm going to make it thru today without it. Yes, Jesus! Problem is getting the strength back up to get some general exercise. Working on developing a habit with the water x3 program, but I know that it will take a little time to do as I am distracted easily. Made another appt with my doc to discuss other meds and preventatives. You are all so wonderful. Thanks again. Blessings, Joe |

Title: Re: Feeling VERY strange Post by nani on Mar 1st, 2005, 2:07pm Hi Joe... consider giving up the imitrex and trying this: http://www.clusterheadaches.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=meds;action=display;num=1107368408 There are far fewer (if any) side effects. Read through the whole thread and look for any other possible meds interactions. I'm optimistic that it might help. PF wishes, nani |

Title: Re: Feeling VERY strange Post by Gator on Mar 1st, 2005, 2:36pm Sorry to hear you're having such a rough time with the beast. Trex pills? Yuck! The pills take too long to work and then they often do not for a lot of clusterheads. We all handle the meds differently, so if they work for you congrats. I've been in this "cycle" since October 2003. I've been doing the nasal and injection triptan thing since April of last year when my 2nd neurologist finally prescribed them. I get a run down, dragging a$$ feeling after a bad series of attacks, but not a hazy drugged feeling. What I get from the triptan abortives is what someone else (don't remember who) described as "a warm blanket being pulled over my head." This is 5 - 10 minutes after taking the med and it goes away quickly leaving nothing but sweet relief. Since you're already using Imitrex, ask your doc for a Stat Dose kit and try the injection. Works muy pronto. |

Title: Re: Feeling VERY strange Post by jokrs2 on Mar 1st, 2005, 2:45pm Hey Nani. I just called my pharmacy and the also do natural. He told me he has access to Kudzu and is going to call me back with a price. The link you sent me was exciting to say the least. Thanks again. I'll let you know when I start and how I progress. PFD's for everyone! Joe |

Title: Re: Feeling VERY strange Post by Margi on Mar 1st, 2005, 3:05pm Hey Joe, sorry to hear you're getting nailed so hard. Just a word of caution with the water x3 treatment...it's best to be totally med-free if you're on it. Although it might help you to wash some of that 'trex out of your system at the moment, it probably wouldn't be a great idea to try the water treatment if you're trying to get preventatives into your system (and keep them there). The water treatment takes a couple of days to take effect so, if you're going to stick with it, be patient- and don't get too far away from the 'loo. ;) What about oxygen? Much safer abortive than 'trex. Also, please do read up on the interaction with kudzu and triptans (if you do start that treatment) - your pharmacist will probably have some good information for you on that. Again, if you're going to introduce kudzu into your system, probably best to bag the water treatment, because you'll just be washing out any good the kudzu is going to do you. |

Title: Re: Feeling VERY strange Post by jokrs2 on Mar 1st, 2005, 6:11pm Thanks Margi. Definitely getting nailed today, but I told myself I wouldn't take the trex today so I'm not. Getting a little teary eyed while I'm writing this as I am just now coming out of having a knife jabbed into the back of my right eye and the whole area between there and my right ear is very sore. Just took a 1mg zanax as I am having muscle cramping. Wonder if it could be because of too many days of trex in a row. Am decreasing the water intake at this time and am still waiting for my rx to call me back about the kudzu. My pharm. is "an expert" on natural and homopathic and was enthusiastic about me trying the kudzu as an alternative to the trex. Never have liked needles but if I had to to get out of how this demon treats me I would be willing. I am going to need more info from you wonderful people on how to take the kudzu so all who are presently using, thank you for your help in advance. Be blessed with PFD's. LYG's, Joe |

Title: Re: Feeling VERY strange Post by PrettyH8Machine on Mar 2nd, 2005, 1:36am I'm with Marge. Try the o2 as an abortive as opposed to the Imitrex. Triptans are very hard on the heart and at the longview, not a best interest - though the only salvation at times. Try the kudzu, but what is working for me (as a chronic) so far is psilocybin. Magic hallucinogenic mushroooms. It has done wonders for me, but may not be for everyone. If you are Desperate, it is FOR YOU! I am doing well after the Psilocybin experiment and in the event that I cannot maintain this, will be doing the Kudzu for its availability and hopefully, its value. Not sure of anything right now, as my primal instinct is to question everything. All I know is, I have been chronic for 7 years and, after 3 doses of the shrooms, have had 3 attacks in 30 days. CD P.S. - Don'tcha just love the side-effects of Elavil? Combined with being a heathen musician, studying old testament and being an ex-preacher - the dreams I have had would make Stephen King look like Dr Suess. So how you doin'? |

Title: Re: Feeling VERY strange Post by jokrs2 on Mar 2nd, 2005, 3:26am Hi Pretty H8 Machine. Thanks for the response. I used to tell my doctor that the elavil made me feel like I had a big line of cocaine without coming down or like a water drop sometimes. Sunshine intensified the effect but alas at the higher dosages my friend Peter would stay up all night but couldn't finish his own work. As for the late 60's & 70's I did an immense amount of tripping, anything to escape what nobody could understand, as my CH had already appeared. Several 100 hallucinogenic trips of one kind or another, and did alot of baiocyansens(not sure of spelling) otherwise called potent psylocibe and liberty caps. Western Washington has alot of cow pastures. Now the farmers will shoot at you or call the cops for trespass. Quit the hippee life many years back but I don't remember having the CH attacks while I was tripping, and had lots of good laughs, too. But some people can have big problems with shrooms such as organs shutting down. Not trying to scare anyone but the facts are the facts. I can remember my kidney areas hurting the following morning sometimes and some have had bad liver failure problems. I also advise against Amanita Muscaria unless a person is an expert on preparation and identifying. Good luck on whatever works for you, and who knows maybe if they legalize them again I might be willing to blow the bubble. Great to meet you, Joe 8) P.S. You mentioned musician. What do you play? I have stacks of synthesizers and midi equip. 7 keyboards in all including Korg, Oberheim, Moog & Arp & Roland modulars. Influenced by Yes, ELP, Pink Floyd, T-Dream etc... |
