Title: A "meegraine" story
Post by Lizzie2 on Feb 19th, 2005, 3:45pm
Well, ordinarily I hate the use of the word "meegraine" because although I'm aware of the story from the convention where the speaker simply pronounced migraine in that way, I'm still convinced that some use it here to demean a genuinely horrid disease.

At any rate, that's besides the point of my post...

Last night, I went on a first date with a guy who has lived in the US for about 3-4 years now..He's from Denmark.  Halfway through the evening, we were talking about sports (he's a professional Squash player)...  We were talking about skating, and the incidence of my concussion came up.

I'm definitely not kidding when he said, "So is that where they think your meegraines came from?"

ROFL!!!  I seriously wanted to bust a gut.  Somehow I managed to keep a straight face as I said...No no...I had them (avoiding the use of the word) far before the accident.

Oh Lord...I've never wanted to laugh so hard in awhile!!

However, I had a very fun night!  He's a genuinely nice guy and has a fun accent too! ;)  hehehe

We went to see the movie Hitch.  We may hang out again tonight...but not sure!  It's nice to finally have a weekend off!

Lizzie2/Carrie :)

Ask him how his Squeesh team is doing and about Deenmark.  If he asks to go back with him to me place, correct him and and say, "No, my place," you'll get along just fine.

It's just really funny when you use different words for things!  I tend to do a lot of word substituting because of speaking so many languages growing up.  I don't always go for the easiest words...out of habit more than anything!  But he...he was even funnier!  It was so cute!

At one point, he says to me, "I like when girls wear their hair pulled out."

I was like...huh? pulled out?  like bald?  really?  the trichtillomania thing is a turn on?  ROFL

Finally it dawned on me, and I said, "Oh!!  You mean...like wearing it down...not pulled back?"

That's what he meant.  hahaha

Communication is so much fun! ;)

LOL.. When I was working in the ER at an Army clinic in Japan, I had to take a rather buxom lass for a chest X-ray at a local Japanese university hospital. In the X-ray room, the young Japanese X-ray tech was visibly nervous, but he asked her to disrobe from the waist up, and then had her stand against the X-ray panel. He then asked her in his best English, "Prease hord your breasts." She looked a little bewildered, but shrugged and cupped her breasts in her hands. I had to sort of cough and grit my teeth to keep from laughing. The poor X-ray tech turned scarlet. I told her, "He meant, 'please hold your breath.'"

Later, much later, when I was alone, I laughed until I thought my ribs were gonna break. LOL!

Was Hitch funny, too? I can't wait to see it... It's not opened here yet, but I've seen the trailer.

Yeah it was!!  I definitely recommend it...quite funny!  Then again, I think Will Smith is absolutely hilarious. :)

It's strange, but I don't really remember the movie all that well!  I think it is because I was at the end of my 16 days in a row, and I was extremely tired.

Ron showed up in a suit....I was feeling like an idiot at that point because originally we were going to go out on Saturday, and I really did not change to go out on Friday.  I had on jeans and a purple silk/cashmere sweater that I had worn all day.  I was not wearing any makeup (I hate wearing the stuff anyhow!) and I had my hair all pulled up, but since it's curly...at least part of it is always falling down anyways! haha

But apparently, he liked me just the same!  I think I was just too tired to make much sense of anything!

But yeah...go see Hitch when it comes out!  Very funny! :)

Carrie :)
