Title: Advice(?) from those that don't understand... Post by cherylc on Feb 15th, 2005, 9:10am [smiley=huh.gif] We all have those people in our lives that try to be understanding and helpful with advice, BUT they just don't get it ::) So maybe we could share some of this unvaluable advice we have gotten and share a laugh!! My mom..."well, maybe you just need to get outside and get a little more fresh air?" Me..."what a good idea...that's probably why I was sitting out in the snow bank last night wearing only my pajama tops, scooping snow onto my head !! " Mom..."oh, I guess you can't get much fresher than that" Let's share and enjoy our pain free moments, Cheryl |

Title: Re: Advice(?) from those that don't understand... Post by nani on Feb 15th, 2005, 9:14am [smiley=laugh.gif] That's funny, cheryl!! A common complaint among us is the lack of understanding we get from the "outside" world. That's why it's so great that we have each other. I've never seen a clusterhead suggest that another clusterhead take an aspirin and go lie down. ;;D |

You need to just take some Advil or something and go lie down." Sadly, my old drummer "How am I supposed to know these hurt as bad as you say?" A neuologist said this to me and all I could think about was how bad I wanted to whack him in the head with a hard hammer and ask "Would you like to take some aspirin and lie down ya fuck?" "It's all in your head." Ya THINK? "Can we still have sex if you have one?".... ..."Only if you're turned on by a guy with tears pouring down his face wearing a non-rebreather oxygen mask while sticking a needle in his arm." ;;D |

Good one... I guess that could be a unique way of banging your head against the wall !! ;) Many people have snickered and said something about sex being good for headaches...Just can't imagine it for a cluster headache ::) Cheryl |

Title: Re: Advice(?) from those that don't understand... Post by Redd715 on Feb 15th, 2005, 10:08am Lets see here....lots of "friendly" advice. "have you ever tried taking Excedrind Migraine? It works...it really does." "...how long has it been since you've seen a chiropractor?" "...all you need is a few good night's sleep and you'll feel better." "...I just talked to a doctor friend of mine and he said that therapy will take care of it." "...just don't think about it." and my favorite one all time. "..you have to pray more Pegg, this is the Jesus trying to call you back to the church." |

Title: Re: Advice(?) from those that don't understand... Post by maureen on Feb 15th, 2005, 11:40am On of my old favorites was from a Dr he told me I was just looking for meds to get high and that my Ha's weren't that bad! I told him if I wanted to get high I could by a bag of weed alot cheaper then the meds. I have a new Dr now. My sister wanted me to come stay at her house for a reunion, when I tried to explain that I didn't feel comfortable staying there in cycle in the same room as my kids I was imformed it was just a Ha and could have them there just as easly as at home, and to stop whining. We don't talk much anymore. When I was 19 I was asked to leave school because I was taking time from someone who could make it to class everyday on time. CH sucks!!! |

Title: Re: Advice(?) from those that don't understand... Post by sandie99 on Feb 15th, 2005, 12:04pm My mum has found a piece of advice which (she thinks) works in every occasion: Me: I have CH again. Mum: Get a donut. Me: I have stress from my uni work. Mum: Get a donut. Me: I'm feeling sad today. Mum: Get a donut. Me: I got a great grade from my essay. Mum: Get a donut. It's a cliche already! When I talk with my friends, they recall to ask how many donut advices I've got lately... ;;D One trouble with the advice is that I don't eat anything with sugar... ::) I'm waiting for a day when she gets that one... |

Title: Re: Advice(?) from those that don't understand... Post by Frank_W on Feb 15th, 2005, 2:36pm When people hear that I have CH, their first reaction is, "Oh yeah? My aunt gets MIGRAINES!!" and then they look at me like I'm supposed to be shocked and amazed by that. LOL Lately, I've been acting shocked and amazed, just so they'll STFU and leave me alone about it. LOL |

You think Don would be a little more sympathetic. I enjoy it when people start helping me find the cause... something you eat, some allergy, et al. My reply is usually to the effect of 'Same trigger for you being so fuckin ugly/having such a tiny cock/(insert your own insult)... we were born with it.' |

Title: Re: Advice(?) from those that don't understand... Post by rickyshot on Feb 15th, 2005, 2:43pm If you had a migraine and took Exerdrin Migraine and it worked you di NOT have a fuckin migraine. I get ones from Hell. Now THOSE are migraines. And now that shit is supposed to work for CH. Are these people burnt? >:( |

Title: Re: Advice(?) from those that don't understand... Post by Tiannia on Feb 15th, 2005, 5:17pm My mom has Migraines. I know that hey are very bad and I have migraines since I was 16. But when I was about 20 mom told me that her migraines had turned into cluster headaches. Now when I actually ended up with clusters, I asked my mom about it. She told me "Well not those type of cluster headaches. It is a different type." But know you know how I feel when you all would not let me sleep when I had a migraine coming one." I am not saying anything about people who get migrianes, I am simply talking about my mother only (and no we dont talk much anymore either. From as far back as I can remember as soon as she had even the trace of a migraine coming on we would take her to the ER, she would get a shot of Dalmaine and Fiorinal(sp?) and would sleep. You could drop a bpmb on her ass and she would not wake up. Now how the hell does she compare that to Clusters? My mother is one of those people that sees three differet docs and gets meds from each of them. She told me that I needed to get better pain killers because then I could sleep and that would make it go away. My sister told me that "Aleve has done wonders for her migraines." "That was not a fucking migraine then" She did not talk to me for a while (Dont think I have good luck with my family. ;) These are from my old work: "If you cut your hair they would stop. It is just all that weight from your hair that is causing them." "You need to eat more often. I get headaches like that when my blood sugar gets to low." And I'm Hypoglycimic (sp?) I know all about Blood sugar and getting the shakes. ::) |

Title: Re: Advice(?) from those that don't understand... Post by ClusterChuck on Feb 18th, 2005, 12:18am The best reason, I ever heard, for clusters came from my dear mother. Oh how I miss her !!! Even if some of her comments were a bit, shall I say, off the mark !!! Anyhow, she told me, that if I got my hair cut (she was a beautician, so she KNEW!), it would help my headahces. Also, I never had those headaches before I got involved with those nudist colonies! So, I guess if I got my hair cut, and kept my clothes on, I would be cured!!! .. .. .. .. .. .. Where I will probably get my hair cut (someday) there is no way I am keeping my clothes on!!!! Guess I am doomed! Chuck |
