Damn...maybe I'm getting a little too tired lately? haha Oh well..now I'm up..might as well get some work done! I mean...I actually got all ready and went to work and didn't realize until they were confused as to why I was there. Oops! haha... d'oh! Lizzie2/Carrie :) |

Title: Re: Moron Moment of the Day 2/12/05 Post by Woobie on Feb 12th, 2005, 8:32am a friend of mine lives about 10 minutes away from work. we work at 845 PM and get off at 645 am. on night - he took an EO (early out). He got off about 5: am... he went home - went to bed. woke up at 8:00 and rushed to get ready for work .... got there at 835.. just in time to punch in. only thing was - it was 835 in the morning - it had only been three hours.. he thought he was late.. you would think he would notice that there were no cars in the parking lot. ( we open at 830 am - so there couldn't have been a parking lot full already....) Not to mention - it was LIGHT outside......... he punched in and went up to the pit too - what a jackass. ;;D ;;D ;;D [smiley=laugh.gif] |

Title: Re: Moron Moment of the Day 2/12/05 Post by Lizzie2 on Feb 12th, 2005, 9:00am ROFL I've done that before...waking up and not realizing my time is off my 12 hours. Shift work and illness are the two biggest killers for knowing what in hell time it is at any given moment!! Sometimes I work 11pm -7:15am. I hate that it's light out and a whole new day is starting when I get off work! I want it to be dark...because at 7:15am it is officially my nighttime...why can't I just go to bed in the dark like everyone else?? LOL No wonder I need a sleep study... shift work'll kill ya every time! Fortunately my new job that starts this June is awesome. I do rotate from day to evening, but no nights for now. (I actually prefer evenings and nights because I am NOT a morning person!!) And we only work every 3rd weekend instead of every other weekend! Nice! :) My next night shift is supposed to be this coming Friday night. I have to see if anyone will cover for me because I found out like a day ago that I have to stay home and babysit the dog because my parents are going out of town. I really think...since it is nighttime, that he'll be okay if I have to go to work though. We'll see! |

Title: Re: Moron Moment of the Day 2/12/05 Post by Kevin_M on Feb 12th, 2005, 10:27am There is a time of year that the light outside at 6:00am is about the same as it is at 6:00pm. Was fooled many times in the party days, like when I'd ask, "What the heck are you doing here at six in the morning?" Right away they wanted what I was on. I remember, oh, about '65, watching my mother sign checks in January; I got to lick the 4 cent purple Lincoln stamps with the "new glue". I saw her write '64 as the date on one check and said it was '65 now. She stops and says, "Wow, is it 1965 already?" I was just wondering how many checks I've written so far this year that say '04. By the way, I remember the 50's, 60's,70's, 80's, and 90's. It is easy to refer to that decade by of course the 10's position. What decade are we in now?? the double aughts, what do they call a decade when it is 01-09??????? Simply the first decade? What decade are we in? Kevin M |

Title: Re: Moron Moment of the Day 2/12/05 Post by Gator on Feb 13th, 2005, 1:44am Try living in a place where it is light 24 hours a day and then dark 24 hours a day. When I first arrived at Sondrestrom Air Base, Greenland, it was June. After all the reporting in formalities, my new supervisor and a few others took the new arrivals to the NCO Club. This was about 2:00pm. When we left the club, the sun was bright, I checked my watch, it read 2:something. I was freaked out that we had been the club for 24 hours. After a good laugh, my comrades told me it was 2:00am. It was so cool. Where I was it was light 24 hours a day for about 4 months, two months of transition to about 4 months of darkness and then two months of transition back to total light. I worked the graveyard shift from 6 at night until 6 in the morning. Working during the months of total light was cool, because it was easy to see everything. The time of total dark was cool, because I didn't need to use my blackout shades to be able to sleep during the day. Definitely had some fun times back then. |

Title: Re: Moron Moment of the Day 2/12/05 Post by Lizzie2 on Feb 13th, 2005, 7:51am Yikes Gator!! That sounds cool yet a lot of biological rhythms getting thrown off track there! Did you have CH back then? It would be really interesting to know what living there did to your normal sleep wake cycle! Although, I'm sure you've had ample time to readjust. ;) Sounds really cool to be in a place like that! I did get someone to take my shift...so I officially get my entire weekend off! Yayyyy My dog willl be happy (like he knew in the first place...haha), and it will be nice not to have to come back here for my Friday night! |
