Title: On days like this Post by LadyElaine on Feb 4th, 2005, 8:46am its nice to be able to come here. I don't have a lot to say about clusters these days cause I don't let the beast run my life and talking about it 24/7 just gives it more credit than it deserves. I try to laugh it away along with all stones life throws at me. I real good at making people laugh. I can still make my dad laugh. I am headed out the door this morning to try and make him laugh again today . I am not sure I will even be able to without crying. I got so much going on right now in my head I think life is laughing at me. I think if I had a hour to myself I would soend it screaming instead of laughing. I can't do that . If I scream then the people who depend on me would feel there was no hope left. My daughter told me one time that when I cry she gives up all hope. I always try to keep a smile on my face. I love bath time I can cry and no one knows it. So coming here keeps me going, and even keeps me laughing. I got to go thanks for starting my day with a smile. I need one from time to time to pass on :-) |

One foot right in front of the other, always, as you move foreward through the day. You give us all strength and courage to persevere. My best to you, and, I hope you know where to go if you need encouragement. Cathi [smiley=hug.gif] |

Title: Re: On days like this Post by taraann on Feb 4th, 2005, 10:58am Elaine, IMO crying is needed from time to time. Take a bath, have a good cry. It can be "cleansing". Try not to be a rock for everyone all the time, take the time once in a while to take care of you and how you feel. Hugs that life makes you laugh with forcing it soon. |

Title: Re: On days like this Post by sandie99 on Feb 4th, 2005, 12:48pm "Smile through your heart is aching, smile although it's breaking..." [smiley=hug.gif] Don't be too strong, Elaine. When you feel like crying, do so. My best friend says that the best laughter is the one through tears... But I do know what you mean. I'm just trying to say that sometimes keeping it all in makes does more damage than letting it all out. I think that it's wonderful that you want to make your dad laugh. This world needs more people with smile on their faces! :) Today, when I did my shopping, I was grinning widely (PF so far) and people were looking at me like I was a brainless idiot... ;;D I hope we can make you laugh....every day! Best wishes & vibes, Sandie |

Trying to tell Elaine not to be a rock for everyone is like: Telling the ocean to just stop all them nasty waves. " Frank (jeep) to start driving a Pinto. " Jonny to cut his hair. " Kirk to switch to Microsoft. " Mastiff to get rid of her ugly dogs " Ree to cuss and swear " Svenn to actually ACT like a Viking. " Roxy to lose the accent. " Ted to become non-political. " Den to love using smileys. " Charlie to start smoking again. " Randy to get rid of his white tube socks. " Mike Storey to stop fishing. " Carl D to hock his guitar. O.K. I'm running out of things here, but you get my drift. Elaine you are a wonderful person who just needs to learn how to take of herself. You have a gift of making people laugh, myself included and if you should ever stop, it will be a cold day for everyone who knows you. Linda |

Title: Re: On days like this Post by LadyElaine on Feb 4th, 2005, 11:16pm ROTFLMAO Mel and Kim! Mel I got to have my bath LOL A good fart always makes me laugh! I can cough and Fart at the same time ;-) Thanks guys thanks for understanding. I have a problem maybe ya'll can help with. We have a BIG opossum that has taken up in ou yard. She lives in a tree by our shead. I love all animals. This opssum has got to go. Killing it is out of the question. If I relocate it it will die. They are territorial and might not survive somewhere else. Then to if she stays here my little dogs that weight less than 5 lbs may get to close to her and it is possiable she could badly hurt my dogs. This thing not only sits on the roof of my house and thumps and drives the dogs nuts. She is not wanted here. OK OK last night I went to the mail box and she scard the pee out of me. Ever walked into a opssum hanging in a tree in the drak. I really had to change my pants . I ran one way and she hissed then played oppsum. They are ugly animals LOL and have big teeth. I am not scard of them I do know how to pick one up by the tail and shake it if he starts to move. I handled a few in my life time. Its what to do with her when I get her that has me puzzled. |

You are right Elaine, they have very sharp teeth and will go after small dogs and cats biting out their bellies. If you don't want to kill it or trap and relocate it, what I would have done as a young kid was get my BB gun and shoot one into the hind quarters everytime you see'um. It won't kill it but will make it think twice about hangin' around near you guys and will learn to run when it sees anyone or, if hit enough times, will move her family to a safer place. I dunno Kevin M |

Title: Re: On days like this Post by Biker on Feb 5th, 2005, 12:41pm Possom? We call em "grinners". they always show their teeth. Even when they die, they still grin at ya. Happy little critters. Pick it up by its tail, throw the thing in your trunk. Drive at least 5 miles, then throw the thing out. Im thinking 50 miles might be even better. O"possoms are born, and die, usually within a 3 mile radius. They dont go far. Their diet is mostly bugs. They eat dead meat, but they only kill bugs. They have large sharp teeth, but their bite is much less than a little dog. Usually around people and dogs, the possom will leave the area. Im suprised you have a problem with a grinner. They like dog and cat food, but they dont hunt. Grinners will re-locate anywhere. All they wanna do is find bugs. They are a marisoupial. They spawn a dozen or so every year, keep them in a pouch, then turn them loose. They look mean, but are pretty much harmless. The males will curl up into a ball and play dead when attacked. The females will do the same unless she has a little one that is missing. She will act like she is agressive, but once ya put your foot on her, she will curl up into a ball and play possom. Relocate the critter if you wish, but they do eat alot of bugs. |

Very correct Biker. I've heard of two instances where a small dog has decided to tangle with one and both times, the soft belly was bitten into. As a kid, when our community was a new suburb, there were still possums around, but then they seemed to quickly vanish. Raccoons and skunks seem to tolerate the fringes of a city a bit better.
